6-foot-1, 190-pound, RHP showed a 4-tick velocity jump while adding a different arm slot to his repertoire. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, some projection. Pitches from a full wind-up w/ short rocker step towards the first base side into back foot reset on first base side of the rubber. Stomach high leg kick w/ slight hip turn and hands head high into classic drop and drive delivery w/ proper finish and H ¾ release. Mixes in L ¾ release at times. Front foot lands facing 1B dugout, missing out on one or two ticks of velocity and command. Back leg along for the ride, can use lower half strength more in delivery. Repeats delivery. Gets downhill well when pitching from the H ¾ release. Arm works well w/ looseness. FB shows occasional short arm side run w/ some heaviness in ball from H ¾ release. CB is medium downer w/ proper shape, rotation. SL is thrown from the L ¾ slot w/ late break, average depth and tilt. Potential swing and miss pitch. Straight CH w/ arm-speed. Feel for commanding the zone w/ the FB, learning to command the off-speed stuff. A definite pitcher to lay eyes on in the spring if looking to fill out the class.
6-foot-1, 190-pound, RHH shows some bat speed. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, some projection. Offensively, hits from an open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Toe tap to square w/ short hand load. Can get rotational at times w/ hips leaking slightly. Shows line drive oriented approach w/ ability to go gap to gap. Defensively, shows solid glove w/ carry to target.
6-foot-0, 185-pound, RHP used the same measured and controlled delivery we saw from him at last year’s Top Prospect Games, uses a pretty consistent tempo that builds up toward the end with a quick movement to the plate, strides and lands in a closed position but is able to get out front with an arm action that comes from a near over-the-top slot, finishes with a slight but controlled fall toward 1B. Fastball was straight, breaking ball showed 12/6 to 11/5 shape through the zone, changeup was a change of pace.
1/16/17 - 60 Time: 7.51, Position Velocity: IF-73, Exit Velocity: 82
6-foot-0, 185-pound, RHH hit from a slightly wider stance than we saw from him at the Top Prospect Games but with the same even alignment, traded in his toe tap and stride for a smooth leg kick with better rhythm to get loaded, lower half gets his hips through and keeps him well-balanced, bat path is pretty flat through contact and provides some lift toward the end, has shown big strides his ability to barrel it up consistently. Defensively, showed average hands and footwork at the corner, could’ve played through the ball more smoothly to get some momentum headed toward 1B for his throws, arm action is short and comes through a nearly over-the-top slot.
6/14/16 - 60 Time: 8.22, Position Velocity: IF-74, Exit Velocity: 80
6'0, 180-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and even stance and uses a short toe tap and stride and subtle hand movement to initiate his load, very little movement leading up to his swing. Lower half fires very well and puts him in a great spot to hit from, top hand dominant swing keeps the barrel above his hands at times, was able to get through a few, balls hit hard were pulled. Defensively, shows average hands and footwork, fielding a couple of balls on his heels and had a hard time working through those, exchange is clean but takes a while to release the ball, uses a long arm action from an over-the-top arm slot, shows average arm strength with some accuracy.
6/14/16 - Max FB: 78, FB: 75-78, CB: 67-68,
6'0, 180-pound, RHP uses a slow and calculated motion that builds until the very last moments of his delivery, over-the-top arm angle results from a short but looser arm action than we saw from him in January, does stride a little closed and has trouble getting the ball to the opposite side of the plate (away to righties). Fastball stayed straight and had some trouble finding the zone for a while, curveball had 12/6 action with some late movement that got one hitter to chase it. Athletic enough to continue getting better and brush up on command in the future.
