RHP Tanner Loyd (2021) is currently known as the top uncommitted pitcher left in the senior class in Tennessee. Pitching for a talented CAK squad who is ranked No. 3 in TN, he took the ball and was dominant for six innings of work. Facing the No.10-ranked team in Class 6A in AL, Loyd worked quick, pounding the zone with a lively 87-88, 89 mph (2300 avg.) to primarily the glove side, but could sneak a few into the arm side against right-handed hitters. Early on, Loyd tossed a quick 77-78 mph slider (2250 avg.), but took a little off and manipulated shape in the later innings to 73-74 mph. Both showed good spin and got numerous swings and misses on all pitches. Showed a 80 mph fading changeup in between innings, but never used it during game. Finished earning the win, going six innings while only allowing one hit, two walks and punched out eight hitters.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound right hander jumped into the rankings after a strong start with TN Nationals this summer. Average build w/ proportional strength.  Quiet, repeatable delivery with quick arm that works to 3/4 slot.  Some effort in the delivery but gets the arm up with fluid follow-through.  FB works 84-87 with good life (Max Spin: 2243 rpm | Avg: 2145 rpm via Trackman) while working more arm side, but uses both sides of the plate.  Mixed results on the breaking ball, looking more SL at 76-79 in May to more CB at 73-74 in June, regardless a nice offering with good shape and late bite.  Interesting to see which way the breaking ball develops, but some high spin upside (Max Spin: 2404 rpm | Avg: 2387 rpm via Trackman) as it gets more consistent.  Occasionally mixes hard CH at 79-81 w/ slight fade and around the zone.  Loyd continues to search for a collegiate home while establishing himself as a key piece for TN Nationals and CAK’s state title defense during their 21’ campaign.

RHP, (2021) Christian Academy of Knoxville, TN. 5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic frame. Above average on the mound, has a ¾ arm angle with a quick arm action. Threw his fastball 84-86 mph with a max of 86 mph; has a tight fastball that showed glove side command and running action. Has a 11/5 curveball (73-74) that shows control around the zone and hard action. Threw a straight changeup (77-80) with slight action and occasional command.
