6'7, 210-pound, LHH hits from an athletic, balanced, and slightly open stance and begins with the bat resting comfortably on his shoulder, uses a rhythmed stride/small leg kick and a lifting and tilting of his hands to get himself ready to go. Lower half fires through the zone and give him a strong and balanced base to operate on, lower half’s aggressiveness allows his barrel to get in a good place and promotes a bat path that comes up through the zone and really allows him to drive the ball in the air. Athletic and lanky build allow him to get good extension through the ball and produced a couple of balls to the warning track in BP and a deep triple in game play. Defensively, showed average hands and footwork around the bag, but displayed a very clean transfer and arm action from an over-the-top arm slot that probably comes from having been a pitcher, arm showed accuracy and good carry. Duffield has continued to show improvements to his game.
6/23/15 - The 6 foot 7, 215-pound righty shows a very tall athletic build, throwing from directly over the top with a powerful delivery. Shows a lively fastball sitting from 81-83mph. Fastball seems to get on hitters quick. Curveball sat from 68-69mph at a 12/6 trajectory with a sharp dropping break. Changeup sat from 68-69mph with good sinking action when it gets to the hitters zone. During game play , Duffield had a hard time finding the strike zone at times during the 1st inning. In the second inning Duffield recorded one strikeout and had two groundouts. Duffield gave up two hits in two innings pitched. Duffield’s arm works well, and his highly projectable frame leads you to believe there is much more velocity to come. As a position player, posted a 4.97 home to 1st time and had a 83 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Duffield showed average hands , fluid footwork, clean exchange, long arm action, and good arm strength with accuracy. Offensively Duffield showed good bat speed from the left side and had an 83 mph exit velocity off the tee. Hits from a balanced setup and has a short stride. Showed good overall balance with good pop off the bat and is a pull type hitter. Has a chance to be a legitimate power threat at the next level. Duffield went 2-for-3 in game play with a double and a single.
