Wells was a tick off in the box on the day but showed all the tools and characteristics of a future high level catcher behind the dish. Standing 5-foot-11, 195-pounds with strong forearms and a stout build, the future Longhorn showed why he was highly sought after at such a young age. Wells handles the low pitch with ease and is very natural catching the ball. He also moves well in both directions to block the ball. When the Smithson Valley backstop continues to get comfortable in the box, watch for him to turn into the total package behind the dish.
