Cole is a top two-way prospect who must be scouted both as a shortstop and a right-handed pitcher. He has a strong build with plenty of room to add strength in the future, coupled with a 6.61 60-yard dash time. His agility and body control on the field stand out, and he has the potential to stay at shortstop. His raw arm strength is impressive, and he shows the ability to impact the baseball.

On the mound, his fastball reached 94 mph during this outing, and he has shown improved velocity this season. His fastball is a plus pitch with projection for even more. His curveball has solid action, clocking in at 80 mph with a spin rate over 2200 rpm. He also mixes in a slider at 82 mph with a spin rate above 2400 rpm. Koeninger is a solid strike thrower and has a great makeup. He competes well and has shown the ability to handle big moments. Right now, he profiles as a hitter/infielder over pitcher. The 2 time Prep Baseball All American continues to show why he is one of the top players in the country.

Cole Koeninger, Keller (TX), 2026 Tennessee
Positional Profile: SS/RHP RHH/INF Great build to add strength. Plus athleticism, plus runner, moves well on baseball field showing body control/agility. Good defensive player with actions present at SS. Defensive versatility present, can move anywhere on the diamond. Shows ability to impact baseball. Opportunities present for adjustments.
Body: 6-2, 205-pounds. Good build, showing nice strength, will continue to add strength in future. Projects very well physically.
Hit: RHH. Lands in good position to hit. Hits into firm front side, back foot shows linear movement with direction towards 3rd base. Like the linear movement, sliding to 3rd base kills use of lower 1/2. Would like to see linear movement towards mound, maximizing use of lower 1/2. Movement of back foot towards 3rd also limits adjustability to location of pitch. Bat speed present along with bat strength. Barrel/hands in good launch position. Takes solid path to hit zone with hands/barrel. Push type swing. Hits balls hard when barreled. 73.1 mph bat speed with 8 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 102 max exit velocity, averaged 83.2 mph. 360' max distance. Solid bat/power combo in future. Opportunities for adjustment. Hits balls hard off barrel, raw power present. Will be fun to watch him develop and adjust.
Arm: RH. INF-92 mph. Arm works well, ability to throw from all angles. Carry to throws. Plus future
Defense: Actions, solid footwork. Makes it look easy. Good hands, good glove presentation. Shows body control and agility. 6.54 runner, could also play CF. Haven't seen him do it, betting on the baseball player if he did go out in CF.
ATH: 6.54 runner in the 60. 1.55 and 3.63 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Plus runner, will get his share of SB's. Good mover. 23.30 max vertical.

Good defensive player with actions present at SS. Defensive versatility present, can move anywhere on the diamond. Shows ability to impact baseball. Opportunities present for adjustments. RHP…Arm works, repeats delivery. Velocity will continue to develop, chance for plus FB in future. Shows ability to spin baseball, quality action to both CB/SL, both have K/out pitch potential. Feel for change. 2 way player, will be scouted both ways. Good make up.

A Prep Baseball All-American and Tennessee Baseball commit, SS/RHP Cole Koeninger (Keller, 2026) showed why he’s ranked as the No. 29 overall player in the 2026 class with a dominant early-season performance. Standing at 6’2” and 205 pounds, Koeninger defies his size by moving with notable ease at shortstop, pairing his smooth actions with a plus arm (92 mph) and a 6.53 60-yard dash. At the plate, he displayed growing power with a 101.5 mph max exit velocity, while on the mound he worked in the low 90s (90–92.5 mph) and spun a 2674 rpm curveball. With tools across the board, Koeninger’s athleticism and skill set make him a premier two-way prospect.
