Ortner starts in a tall open stance, has a simple load with a leg kick into a long stride, has balance throughout the swing, and has the intent do damage at the plate. He hit consistently off the barrel, and the majority of the balls in his round were driven to the left-center field gap. He flashed soft hands, athleticism in his footwork, a clean exchange, and a short over-the-top arm action (81 mph across the diamond). Ortner has a quick exchange and release while playing on the run.
