06.26.18 A projectable 6-foot-3, 170-pound frame. The right-handed starts tall in his stance with his hands always in motion. What follows is a big leg kick as he wraps his hands, and a fundamental understanding of when to get his foot down. He showed a loose barrel and during batting practice, Strmiska peppered the opposite field gap with lift and regularity. In the outfield, he moved athletically and played through the baseball well. He fired to home plate with a consistently clean over-the-top arm swing and as he topped out at 81 mph, keeping his throws low and accurate. On the mound, he works from an easy, repeatable delivery with a short ¾ arm stroke. Strmiska has a quick arm and filled up the strike zone with his 81-83 mph fastball, as he clearly has a feel for his athletic delivery. His curveball, sitting at 73-74 mph, showed hard 11-5 break and his 78-79 mph changeup, like his curveball, was thrown from the same arm slot and effort. Strmiska still has plenty of room in his frame to add beneficial strength, to go with his athleticism.
