I have seen Davenport multiple times this season, and I thought this was his most complete outing to date. The Aggie Baseball signee sat in the low 90’s all night with his typical ASR and sink. He is tough to elevate when he is commanding the FB. His slider was the difference for me, it was the sharpest I have seen this spring. He was able to throw it for a strike, and once he got ahead he expanded the pitch off the zone and got plenty of swing and miss. He finished the night throwing a CG shutout throwing only 89 pitches.

On Friday night, Davenport came out of the bullpen for the 1st time I have seen. He came out throwing 91-94 mph bowling balls. He had some serious sink on the fb, and was extremely tough to elevate. He has the power change to play off the FB. It has the same shape as the fastball, but comes in at the 82-85 range. He also throws a hard short slider/cutter. It is in the 85-86 mph range, and when he throws it right, it generates a lot weak contact.

The Sr. RHP had an impressive 1st outing of the spring. The Aggie signee was 90-92 T93 with ASR and Sink. He commanded the fastball well and showed the ability to get to his glove side as well as burying the pitch under the RHH’s hands. He showed a very good change up on this day. It is on the firmer side but comes out of the hand just like the fastball and has the same movement as well. He also has a tight short slider. It is more of a weak contact pitch than Swing and Miss but he locates it well and it comes out of the same slot as FB and CH.
