06.20.17 - 6-foot-2, 215-pound, sturdy frame. His fastball was 87-89 mph, his changeup was 77-81 mph, while his curveball was 75 mph with 12-6 shape.
03.15.17 - 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame with strong lower half and broad shoulders. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a quick arm stroke. His fastball ranged from 85-90 mph in the first inning. In the second inning he topped out once at 91 mph, settling into the 87-89 mph range, and 84-86 mph out of the stretch. He was able to get swings and misses on his curveball at 74-77 mph with tight spin and depth. He only threw a couple of changeups, both to left-handed hitters, but the pitch shows arm side fade at 78-80 mph. DeVries’ fastball command was not as sharp out of the stretch, but he was still able to spin his curveball with command to get out of innings. DeVries would get a five inning no-decision, allowing two earned runs on five hits, two walks, and ten punch-outs.
