Alexander Bard, Lamar (TX), 2026
Positional Profile: C/SS SH/C with solid build to add strength. Received well in game play, like the raw arm strength, can improve pop times. Project solid bat/power combo in future with adjustments to hit approach and swing. Player with upside.
Body: 5-6, 172-pounds. Solid build/frame. Has width to shoulders and back. Strength is showing, especially in lower half. Will keep adding with growth and maturity.
Hit: SH. LH..Rotational back foot, works in getting rotated and driving lower 1/2 forward. Rolls onto side of stride foot, limiting use of lower 1/2, work to stay into ground with stride foot. Body falls back slightly at contact point working against lower. Opportunities to improve impact with adjustments. RH…Rotational back foot, with length of stride would like to see some linear movement forward with back foot to better engage lower 1/2. Make sure foot gets rotated on time and completely turned. LH..Barrel tip present creating length to swing, scoop swing. Work to keep barrel behind head to start swing allowing for direct path to zone with hands and barrel. Think knob as flashlight, light should be somewhere in direction of catcher to allow for cleaner path. RH..Barrel tip over head towards just left of center field creating length to swing. Similar to LH approach, work to get behind head shortening path. 68.9 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 80.9 mph. 293' max distance. Solid bat/power combo in future with adjustments to hit approach and swing to both sides of plate. Contact consistency and ability to impact baseball will firm with changes.
Arm: RH. C-76 mph. Arm works well. Showing some arm speed. Good compact action in the arm. Throws off firm front leg.
Defense: 2.01-2.08 pop times. Feet move nice. Uses momentum well while staying low and athletic. Would like to see glove ready earlier, flashes back of glove, work on showing that pocket to the ball before ball is thrown.
ATH: 1.72 in the 10 yard split. Nice runner. Strides well. Arm swing direction is good. Keeps a solid tilt forward. 23.20 max vertical.
