Luke Simon, Tompkins (TX), 2027
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP RHH/INF will add strength. Fringe avg runner, look for speed to increase with added strength and physical maturity. Developing defensively, will have versatility to play anywhere on the infield. Projection bat/power combo with adjustments. Nice upside with added strength and development. Knows how to play the game.
Body: 6-2, 154-pounds. Lean build, high waist. Avg with to shoulders and back.
Hit: RHH. Rotational back foot showing linear movement forward, lower 1/2 works. Hits in firm front leg. Rolls onto to side of stride foot, falls into heel at times hindering balance along with hindering use of lower. Body/posture lays back at point of contact, work to develop more upright posture at contact, laying back hinders lower 1/2 effectiveness. With stride, hands push away from body getting past back foot creating long swing. Soften hand movement with stride, would like to see hands above back foot. Lead arm bar created, long swing. Front shoulder flys open to compensate for long swing. Shortening launch position with allow for swing to work on more direct path to zone and allow for lead shoulder to stay closed. 62.4 mph bat speed with 8 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 84.0 mph. 308' max distance. Projecting bat/power combo with adjustments to both hit approach and swing. Contact consistency and impact will firm with changes.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. Arm works fine showing developing carry to throws. Chance arm can develop into abv avg HS infield arm.
Defense: Feet work well moving to baseball and playing thru ball when fielding. Fields baseball deep, work to field ball more out front. Glove flip present, work to eliminate.
ATH: 7.11 runner in the 60. 1.69 and 3.93 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Solid stride length with nice form, look for speed to increase some in future. 22.40 max vertical.
