7/27/25

Lean, athletic build. Compact delivery with effort. FB 86–90, tailing life, 2500–2600 spin. CB shows depth and average potential with 12–5 shape, though command is inconsistent. CH 81–82 with fade. Arm speed is there; velocity should climb. Has flashes of solid stuff. Must improve command to start long-term.

6/25/25
Mason Desai, Fulshear (TX), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP RHS with good build to add strength. Athletic. Solid delivery, arm works with arm speed present. Expect to see velocity jump in future. FB has solid spin, ability to pitch up/down in zone. Feel for breaking ball with spin and ability to manipulate. Change has action with deception. Around zone with stuff. Solid RHP to follow.
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Good build/frame to add stength. Project solid build in future.
Hit: RHH. Straight up, shoulder width apart, slightly open. Knee lift, short stride. Rotational back foot and hits into a strong front leg. Good use of lower half. Hands/barrel in a strong launch postion. Direct, quick path to the ball with good bat speed present. Good postion at contact. 69 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 87.3 mph. 364' max distance. Solid bat/power combo. Has ability to drive balls into the left center gap. With adjustments would like to see approach focus on balls to both gaps.
Arm: RH. OF-91 mph. Arm works well. Arm speed present. Full circle arm action. Throws have some arm side tail to them, keep a straight wrist behind the ball.
Defense: Works well to baseball. Gets feet in good position to throw and keeps momentum moving towards target. Steady defender at all three OF spots.
ATH: 6.75 runner in the 60. Runs well with plus speed. Work on direction of arm swing being up and down instead of coming across body.
Vizual Edge: 62.56 Edge Score

Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Good build/frame to add stength. Project solid build in future.
Delivery: Stretch only. Knee lift with inward turn to hip and shoulder. Cast stride leg out and around, lands in good spot. Nice getting over front side. Solid finish.
Arm Action: RH. Full circle with slight length. HTQ slot with good finish.
FB: T91, 89-91 mph. FB with carry up in zone. Tail increasing to arm side. Stuff present to pitch up/down with success. Expect FB velocity to make jump. T2566, 2471 average rpm.
SL: 74-75 mph. Solid pitch with spin, 3/4 type breaker, will get on side lengthen to glove side. More of CB type action based on this look. T2779, 2685 average rpm.
CH: 83-85 mph. Tail/sink action with deception present. Quality pitch, locates in zone. T1788, 1647 average rpm.
ATH: 6.75 runner in the 60. Runs well with plus speed. Work on direction of arm swing being up and down instead of coming across body.

6/25/25

Desai showed why he’s one of the more intriguing two-way athletes in the 2027 class. At 6-foot, 165-pounds with room to add strength, he turned in a 6.75 60, 96.5 max EV, and was 91 from the OF — checking the box in all three major tools. The swing shows quick hands (72 mph bat speed) and a clean move through the zone, and the ball jumps when he’s on time. He posted a 364 ft. max distance with over 60% sweet spot rate, showing real pull-side power starting to emerge.

On the mound, Desai sat 88–91 with heavy spin (T2566) and ride up in the zone (13.4” avg IVB), and he filled it up at 86% zone rate. The changeup was a separator — firm at 82–84 with similar release metrics and late action — and he showed feel for a developing slider with sweep (T2779 spin). The three-pitch mix and command give him a starter’s profile, and his arm speed is easy to dream on.

Whether it ends up being on the bump or in the outfield, Desai’s loud tools and athleticism are going to play. He’s a name to follow closely moving forward.
