A 6-0 175 lean athletic look with large hands and big feet. Still growing into his frame and may have more growth potential due to those attributes. Although a 7.16/60 runner, as his lower ½ gains added strength, there may be some improvement in this area, however he’s a heel/toe runner and this impedes his inline stride and gate. The defensive skills shows fair hands and below feet, with a tendency to play on his heels. Needs to focus on staying over his front side and in his toes to remain quick and bouncy. The arm has fluctuated from event to event and jumps around from 85, 75 to 80, and this may be attributed to his feet and the fluidity of getting his throws off on balance. The bat has a flatter plain and does get solid launch to separate from his load to foot strike. The swing is on plane for the most part and stays to the center of the field and the pull side with 94 EV maxes and can drive the ball to the LCF gap with backspin. On the mound Stump gets the ball out of the glove over the rubber from a medium kick to delivery. The hand has some dice roll as he brings his hand up into the slot, after a medium arc in his backswing. There is some tendency to cut off at release and needs to get better and quality ext out front and power through the baseball more efficiently. The FB 78-81 shows the ability with a loose wrist to spin the ball at 2,364 and the pitch maintains plane up and becomes hittable down and this should be a focus to utilize his spin up and set hitters up and get ahead in the count, to be able to go up the ladder late with 2 strikes. The CB 69-73 has fringe spin at 2,138 and the CB shows TQ tilt and late medium depth. As the FB ticks up and some delivery faults get fixed, the CB will bend and dive more effectively with added arm speed and velocity. The CH 72 fades with late sink, although he needs to maintain his arm speed and not slow the arm in telegraphing the pitch. With 3 years to go, there is a base to work from and a good pitching coach can address some tweaks to bring out the potential.
