A lean slender athletic build with plus hand/eye to hit the mitt with all pitches in the FB/CB and CH. A high % K thrower that walked only 7 batters, while punching out 44 over 29 innings pitched as a junior in 2023, as one of the go to arms in the Warriors pitching mix. A flexible high kick to a NWU tall and long delivery, Kirby stays tall and also throughout the delivery, and needs to get into his lower ½ a bit better, and he uses his upper ½ more so, yet does get over his front side to compensate, to create a downhill plane and angle to the hitter. A closed front side, allows for a FB 83-85 to play up a tick and hitters struggle to impact the baseball off his FB in getting late reads and swings. The CB 69-70 with abv avg spin at 2449 with quality shape and definition. Shows the finger strength and dexterity and stiff wrist to cut through and rip the seams to create depth and downward tilt with the spin to miss bats at a high rate. CB plays up with the spin and at his current level, he is a problem for hitters, that can’t compete against a two pitch arsenal that features avg to solid overall command of the zone.
