Tolman is a higher floor physically at 5-11 175 and may not get much more height, but another 10-15 man strength Lbs is to come. A part time starter with 37 PA’s as a freshman and in a league with elite HS pitching, registered a .321 BA along with logging 30 innings on the mound in a starter and reliever role. Posted a 4-1 record with a 5.93 ERA and a K (31) per inning, although did give up 27 BB’s. With a for the most part on line efficient clean stroke, the swing shows well and just needs to square up balls at a more consistent rate. The skill for contact is in place as his 37 PA’s will attest, Tolman walked 8 times vs only 4 K’s. Just the ability to really make hard contact vs contact will continue to develop as it’s slight tweaks and added confidence headed into this spring with varsity experience under his belt is a big asset moving forward. Defensively plays 3B with some catching in his background, the hands at 3B can soften more as he just needs to unlock his wrist and be more flexible and floppy wristed as his feet have the base to sync more efficiently. The arm has played as high as 81 across the diamond and can fluctuate, if he’s been pitching recently headed into an event. The arm is clean and with ext out front to carry throws through his intended target. On the mound, I’ve seen Tolman in a couple of HS outings and he’s a grinder and tough competitor. A pitcher right now over velocity, which is good, the finer points will continue to come as he matures and gets more innings and added arm strength. A 3 pitch arm that touches 83-84 and is inline for where he is velo at his age should be. Being a LH bat is of intrigue, as it has potential and the arm on the mound as well. Will continue to follow, as Jax is in my hometown and will see him quite a bit
