Eure comes from a family pedigree with his bloodlines coming from his father and head coach at Corner Canyon, Jeff Eure. The older Eure played 7 years for the Brewers and Royals, reaching AA and as the Utah Director (Jeff Scholzen), I scouted the father in Ogden in 2001 on a loaded Raptors club, full of high round picks and Coach Eure was drafted twice by the Brewers. The younger Eure, Lincoln has been schooled right and is a tough gamer type with a good arm, whether in the middle of the diamond or on the mound, where he reaches 88 mph now as a rising sophomore for a smaller frame than his father. On the mound, Eure has a crunched lower ½ to the set position and rocks back and sits into his back side with a higher kick to delivery and comes at the hitter with a deceptive short/ball to ear type catching arm stroke. Abv hand and eye to hit the mitt to both corners of the plate and fills up the zone. The breaking ball in the upper 60’s is tilted with TQ shape and bends late for off balance swings that result in weak contact at his current level of play. A 7.05/60 can definitely improve to 6.7-6.8, as he contours to add lower ½ strength. The gate is smooth and he’s an online runner with proper form and leg extension to reach out and gain ground. A wide setup to hit with a preset load and rocks to get the parts moving, as he gets inside the baseball. The swing is a bit and can get around the ball and needs to shorten the path. The setup and pre-pitch moving parts are one that are definitely based to improve upon. Would love to get this kid under my wing for a day and see where the aptitude is and where his bloodlines can take him offensively?! In the middle of the diamond Lincoln shows some bounce and longer actions on approach to the baseball with soft hands and a late bend and squat to cradle the ball. Just needs to stay lower and earlier and the feet and overall moving parts may shorten up and is athletic enough to make the adjustments. Will be interesting to see where things take him over the next 3 seasons and I definitely have my eye on him!
