1/11/20

Athletic frame standing 5-foot-10, 160-pounds. Athletic stance hitting from the right side. Starts square, is loose and has some rhythm, and uses a small pick up and stride landing on line. Hands do not show much movement in load, short to the ball, and level path through the zone. Displayed hand speed and bat speed getting through the zone with extension on contact. Aggressive lower half and hits against a firm front side. Exit velocity was 84 mph. In the infield Martin’s feet were active on approach, glove presented out front, and showed nice hands to catch. Balls at him timing seemed to be a bit early, but had solid pace and timing on balls side to side. Short arm action and displayed the ability to throw from multiple arm slots with ease. 76 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.27 60.

AJ Martin SS St. John’s College 2022

5-foot-10, 160-pound athletic frame with some projection to it. Square athletic stance, hands show some rhythm in the load, and makes small stride forward landing on line. Slight arm bar and hands drop slightly at separation, but has some quickness getting the barrel through. Swing has uphill tilt and looks to have some long term gap to gap potential. Gets solid usage out of the lower half and finishes it with some aggression. Exit velocity was 82 mph. Defensively, feet were active early with a prep hop and works around the ball on approach. Solid glove presentation to catch, soft hands, and a quick exchange at center. Short arm circle and throws from a three-quarter arm slot at 71 mph across. Ran a 7.34 60. Is an intriguing athletic infielder to keep an eye on going forward.
