Brooks has a compact athletic frame, listed at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds. Brooks is a high end defender in centerfield. Quick first steps, good angles of approach, and goes back well to both sides. Narrow athletic stance, hands are relaxed, and load back to separation with a slight bat wrap. Short to contact with a level path and line drive tendency to the swing. Walked in his first at bat and then singled to left field in the second inning. It was an inside fastball and he pulled his hands in and delivered the barrel to contact out front. Thought he firmed up the front side and cleared the lower half well in order to get the hands in and barrel to the ball. Swing is contact driven with line drive tendency to it and offers plenty of upside as a high end defender in centerfield.

Brooks is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, loads back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill swing path, some strength at contact, showed a good approach working the middle of the field, some gap power present with potential to grow into more, exit velocity was 86. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short quick arm action, position velocity was 77. Ran a 7.22 60 yard dash.
