Phillips is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, short load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, a lot of strength at contact with extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with a lot of power present that way, exit velocity was 97. In the infield, gets body behind the ball and fields with a wider base above average hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short quick arm action, position velocity was 83. Showed versatility working out in the outfield. Ran a 7.52 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot, shorter free quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive crossfire delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 83-85, with some late sink to it. Curveball was 66-67 with some armspeed and sharp 2/8 break to it. Change-up was 75-76 with good armspeed and some late hard sink. Slider was 69-71 with good armspeed and later hard 2/8 break to it.
