VA/DC Scout Blog

Long projectable 6-foot-5 frame with long limbs. Normal effort delivery, long stride down the mound, and lands closed. The arm is very short and stiff with a sort of one piece arm swing. Throws from a low three-quarter arm slot and gets some arm side run to the fastball when working to the glove side. Was fairly efficient around the zone, throwing 65% strikes while using a two pitch mix. The fastball was 79-80 in the first and settled in at 77-80 and touched 81 once. The breaking ball varied shapes and effectiveness. When working to the glove side it was more 11/5 with not as much depth, or feel for the zone. When it worked to the arm side it backed up a touch with 12/6 shape, but showed more depth and better feel for the strike zone. It sat between 67-69 mph. Occasionally showed the ability to be an effective pitch and will get better as the arm increases through release. Projectable arm that will need to add arm strength.
