Calderon earned near everyday playing time for Oak Creek as a sophomore this spring and he continued to hit throughout the summer, including this weekend at our PBR at the The Rock Fall Championships. He showed a short, simple right-handed stroke that’s comfortable working the other way and an advanced run tool that played up on the bases, too. He finished his weekend with four hits across three games.
Positional Profile: C/2B
Body: 5-foot-9, 135-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Crouched open setup, short stride to even. Path works uphill plane, some length, aggressive approach.
Power: 78 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. C - 69 mph. INF - 70 mph. Long high 3/4 arm action on the infield. As a catcher, short action from a high 3/4 release.
Defense: 2.27-2.45 pop times. Infield actions showed above average active footwork for his age. From behind the plate, lower half actions work well, quickly. Consistency and efficiency in transfers through release.
Run: 7.61 runner in the 60.
