Delivery: Stretch only, drop/drive lower-half with intent downhill, works in-line.
Arm Action: LH. Longer reach on the backside, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T84, 82-84 mph. Some tilt and angle through the zone with carry. T2098, 1946 average rpm.
CH: 77-78 mph. Thrown with fastball intent, has late fade and bottom to the pitch. T1852, 1665 average rpm.
SPLT: 71-76 mph. Kills spin on it, flashed drop.

OF/LHP JD Weiland (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, 2027): Standing at a physical 6-foot-4, 225-pounds, highly imposing frame. The left-handed hitter drives the baseball with authority through the middle of the field, creating backspin as he was able to leverage the ball from a downhill swing. He routinely generated hard contact with an impressive 92.8 mph average EV and a peak max EV of 101 mph, while his 79.9 mph average bat speed and 19.0 g of rotational acceleration are very high marks and some of the top swing metrics of the event. Moves well for his size with a 7.18-second 60-yard dash, and his throws home topped 88 mph during outfield evaluations. On the mound, operating exclusively out of the stretch as a southpaw on the mound, he works aggressively downhill with an explosive and repeatable delivery. His fastball sat 82-84 mph (1,946 rpm) with 17.1 inches of average induced vertical break, while his changeup played at 77-78 mph (1,665 rpm) with -14.3 inches of horizontal movement. He also mixed in a 71-76 mph splitter that effectively killed spin and flashed late drop through the zone. It was a very good look from the two-way talent who our staff is excited to view this spring.

+ LHP/OF JD Weiland (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, 2027) is a 6-foot-4, 210 pound athlete who has considerable upside potential with the XL frame with plenty of room to add. On the mound, he ran the heater up to 82 mph where he demonstrated the ability to angle is to spots in the zone from a 3/4 slot. He tunnelled the change up off the fastball at 73-75 mph and showcased solid feel for the pitch. With the bat, he backspun the baseball throughout his round with his strong and quick hands through the baseball and was up to 91 mph and drove a ball 315 feet.

Delivery: High leg lift, with balance down the mound, medium leg swing finish through the plate.
Arm Action: LH. Medium arm arc, up on time, downhill, high 3/4 slot with angle.
FB: T82, 80-81 mph. Angles it to areas, can get to glove side. T2154, 2048 average rpm.
CH: 73-75 mph. Depth at the plate. T1775, 1673 average rpm.
SPLT: 69-70 mph. Downer, has feel for it, has late cut at the plate.
ATH: 7.58 runner in the 60. 1.76 and 4.14 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 17.80 max vertical.
