March 18-23  AHSAA Players of the Week:

As the season creeps up on the high way point of the season the impressive performances throughout the state continue to pile up. This week we had over 50 Player of the Week nominations from high school coaches throughout the state and spent hours deciphering stats, etc. Below are the 22 players recognized for their impressive weeks.

Riley Bennett (2019, RHP/3B, Scottsboro) Bennett had a complete game win going 7 IP allowing 1 ER and striking out 11 vs. Guntersville. He was also 2-6 in 2 games with a 2B and 2 RBI.

Jaylen Childs (2019, 1B/RHP, Saks) had a week that will be hard to match. The 6'6 285 lb Troy University football signee was 10-13 on the week with 4 2B, 3 HR, 16 RBI and 6 runs scored. On the mound he got a complete game win going 7 IP with 10K allowing 1 ER.

Teammates Chip Morgan (2021, 3B/RHP, Andalusia) and Jacob Cravey (2020, RHP/1B, Andalusia) teamed up for an impressive week. Morgan was 9-11 on the week with 6 RBI and a 2B. On the mound he threw 5 innings not allowing a run with 6 K's. Cravey was 9-13 at the plate with 2 2B and 4 RBI. He was 1-0 on the mound for the week throwing 4 innings with 5 K's. 

Brothers Andrew Dutton (2020, MIF, Westbrook Christian) and Samuel Dutton (2021, RHP, Westbrook Christian) both had impressive weeks. Andrew, a Birmingham Southern commit, was 6-9 on the week with 2 2B, 2 3B, 6 RBI, 7 BB and 9 runs scored. On the mound, he threw a 5 inning shutout, allowing 1 hit while striking out 7. Samuel, an LSU commit, threw a 5 inning perfect game with 14 K's. 

Sean Smith (2021, 1B, Piedmont) The sophomore was 8-16 on the week with 6 runs scored, 1 2B and 10 RBI. He had 3 HR's on the week, including a walk off bomb and a grand slam.

Cole Smith (2021, SS, Priceville) the 2021 grad was 7-11 on the week with 1 3B and 3 runs scored. He also had 6 RBI's for the week.  

Jacob Hammac (2020, RHP/SS, Florala) Hammac was superb on the mound going 2-0 for the week throwing 11 1/3 innings. He allowed 6 hits, 3 ER and struck out 22 hitters. Offensively, he was 5-10 on the week with 5 RBI's.

Joseph Crumpton (2020, OF, Hatton) The junior was 8-12 on the week with 4 2B's, 4 runs scored and 1 RBI. 

Nate Hodge (2019, C, Stanhope Elmore) The senior catcher was 8-11 on the week with 2 HR and 11 RBI. 

Isaac Evans (2019, RHP/2B, Athens) Evans threw a 6 inning no hitter vs. DAR at the Gulf Coast Classic. He issued 2 BB and struck out 8 hitters. 

Bob Jones teammates Slate Alford (2021, 3B, Bob Jones) and Mitchell Daly (2020, SS/2B, Bob Jones) put up impressive numbers this week. Alford (Auburn commit) was 12-24 on the week with 10 RBI. He scored 6 runs, and had 6 BB. Daly (Texas commit) was 12-27 with 3 2B's, 3 HR's and 9 RBI's. He scored 12 runs, had 6 BB's and 5 SB's. 

Slade Brown (2020, C, Lauderdale County) The physical catcher had a superb week at the plate. He was 5-8 with 1 2B, 1 HR and 4 RBI. 

A pair of Wilson High School RHP's give the Warriors a nice 1-2 punch on the mound, and both had impressive outings this week. Luke Daniel (2020, RHP, Wilson) went 8 innings on the mound only allowing 2 hits. The Auburn commit struck out 14 and gave up no earned runs. Brycen Parrish (2020, RHP, Wilson) was equally dominate throwing 7 innings, allowing 3 hits with 1 earned run and 14 K's. 

Konner Copeland (2019, LHP, Saraland) The southpaw had a dominant outing vs. Alma Bryant. He went 5 innings in a complete game shutout, allowing 2 hits and striking out 13 hitters.

Hoover had an impressive week versus some tough in state competition and some Georgia high school powers. Daniel Swatek (2019, RHP/3B, Hoover) and Peyton Wilson (2019, 2B/SS, Hoover) were both impressive for the week. Swatek a Shelton State commit, was 8-17 at the plate with 3 2B's and 5 RBI's. He was dominant on the mound throwing 9 innings on the week with wins over Mountain Brook and Buford (GA). He struck out 13 and allowed issued 1 BB and allowed 1 ER. Wilson, an Alabama signee, was 8-20 at the plate with 1 3B, 2 HR's, 8 RBI's and 4 SB's. The switch hitter homered from both sides of the plate in a game on Saturday. 

Elis Yohn (2021, OF/C, Smiths Station) The sophomore was 6-10 on the week with 2 2B's and 6 RBI's for the Panthers. 

Trey Mooney (2021, RHP, Oxford) Another impressive week for the sophomore right hander, For the week, Mooney threw 10 2/3 innings allowing 6 hits with 14 K's and 0 earned runs.
