'21 RHP Trey Mooney (No. 65, Montevallo signee) didn't show the velocity that we have seen over the past couple of years, but that didn't seem stop him from working through a talented Smiths Station lineup for seven innings. In his first start of his senior campaign, Mooney used a 80-82 mph fastball that was located to all quadrants & mixed high/low off breaking ball effectively. He has been up to 90 mph this summer at LakePoint, so the arm strength is there and still working its way back. The breaking ball was his calling card throughout the outing and flashed 11/5 break and efficient spin (2300 rpm's). Mooney worked at a fast tempo and showed no trouble flipping in that breaking ball for strikes. He probably didn't have his best stuff (six walks), but it speaks to his competitiveness that he was able to adjust and fight through some high stress pitches.

Strong lower half that he uses well in his delivery. The fastball showed nice vertical movement and the ball exploded out of the hand and seemed to take off late with spin rates in the 2000’s, sitting 84-86 mph throughout his pen. The breaking ball was commanded down in the zone very well at 74-76 mph and tight spin. Really liked the deception out of the hand with the change up that he consistently stayed down in the zone with. This could be a plus swing and miss pitch for him at 74-75 mph.

6-foot-2, 201-pound right-handed pitcher, physical frame, projects well. Loose, easy arm action, ¾ slot. Deep drop and drive delivery, works on-line, lands square to the plate. Fastball sat 83-85 with some late life up in the zone. Curveball, 12/6 shape, depth, late bite, swing and miss type pitch, 75.

1.20.19-  solid fundamentals on the infield and really played low to the ground. Glove is in nice position to field  and he has plenty of arm strength to make the throw from 3B. At the plate he starts from a slightly open stance with above average pop. Has nice tempo in the swing and set up.  Hit all zones while during BP. Is really a big time 2021 RHP to keep an eye on. No doubt this is where his future is. Very solid mechanics on the mound and didn’t throw a FB under 84 mph and topped at 86 mph. The slider has very tight spin and is a true out pitch with big time bite.   Uses his lower half very well and should continue to progress into a big time arm in the 2021 class.

A 2021 with a high ceiling that really repeated his arm slot and arm action with all three effective pitches. Broad shoulder kid with a nice frame (6’2).Threw both a 4 seam and 2 seam fastball with the 2 seam really created run into RH hitters. Commanded the bottom half of the zone and forced some weak ground balls. His FB sat in the low 80’s and was up to 84 mph while showing a plus breaking ball with 12/6 action in the 73-74 mph range
