Sat, Feb 29: Hartselle 5 James Clemens 4

 The James Clemens Jets fell to the Hartselle Tigers 5-4 on Saturday on the final play of the game. The game was tied in the bottom of the seventh when Clayton Burns was hit by a pitch, scoring the winning run.

Sophomore Elliott Bray (Hartselle) & junior Joe Lach (James Clemens) both pitched into the 5th inning in a scoreless game. In the top of the 5th for James Clemens senior Landon Brown reached on a bunt single and stole second base. Senior Braden Cobb drove in the first run of the game with a sharp single up the middle. James Clemens scored the 2nd run of the inning on an error to go up 2-0. Hartselle answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th.  Lach struck out the first 2 hitters but the next 7 Hartselle hitters reached base. A combination of 4 BB & HBP’s mixed in with 2 hits, including a 2 RBI single by junior Drew Cartee gave Hartselle a 4-2 lead after 5 innings. In the top of the 6th inning, James Clemens tied it up at 4 with another RBI single by Cobb, driving in senior  Dillon Acosta and an error allowed Cobb to score. 

Heading into the bottom of the 7th tied at 4-4, sophomore Brodie Morrow led off with a single and the next three Tiger hitters reached base with two base on balls and ended with a walk-off Hit by pitch.
