Vestavia Hills Dominant in Win over Madison Academy

The Rebels pounded out 12 hits and 10 runs in just 5 innings on their way to a 10-0 win over Madison Academy. Vestavia got a great start from Sr LHP Graham Duncan, who surrendered just 2 hits and struck out 5 across 5 scoreless innings. The crafty lefty wasn’t overpowering, but did a nice job working his fastball to both sides of the plate, and kept some powerful right-handed hitters guessing with a deceptive change-up.

Vestavia jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. Joseph Sullivan (2021), Hudson Walburn (2023 #26) and Mason Maners (2020 #14, Jacksonville St. signee) started the inning with 3 consecutive hits. All 3 would eventually come around to score on hits from Wilson Owen (2020) and Braden Glenn (2021). The Rebels would tack on 3 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd when Maners, Reece Crenshaw (2020) and Grant Cherry (2021 #4, Georgia commit) scored on a bases loaded walk from Owen and single from Glenn. The Rebels would go on to add 1 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th.

Madison Academy was led at the plate by 2021 IF Kai Watson. The Mustangs leadoff hitter smacked two singles in 3 at-bats, the only hits in the game for Madison Academy.
