5-foot-11, 170-pound athletic solid frame. Recorded a 7.22 60 yard dash and offensively begins in a tall athletic stance with a smooth load and a small leg kick. Shows explosive bat speed with a simple upward swing plane and high finish. During BP, he stayed on balls to the middle of the field with a lot of loud contact and an overall gap to gap approach. The right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 93 mph according to Trackman. While catching, he was up to 77 mph on throws to the 2B bag with a quick exchange and athletic footwork. Pop times were very consistent at  2.03-2.11 from a quiet setup and tons of flexibility. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a high ¾ slot and a very quick arm action.

Walburn continues to trend upward as he presents an athletic backstop that is also equally adept handling the bat. The sophomore shows nice flexibility in the hips with athletic actions behind the plate. He is a quiet receiver and did a solid job of “stealing” some strikes for Tyus, especially pitches a bit off the outer half of the plate. The athleticism shows in the quick transfer and plenty of arm strength to the bag as he threw out the only attempted base stealer on the afternoon. Hitting in the 3 hole for the Rebels, Walburn has a very disciplined approach and strike zone awareness, rarely chasing out of the zone. Very simple approach with some present strength in the hands.

C/3B Hudson Walburn continues to perform at a high-level at the plate versus any competition. Walburn, as a sophomore, hit in the three-hole for a very talented Vestavia Rebel team and he showed no signs of the moment being too big for him. He does bring back valuable experience at the varsity level from his freshman year, so it shows why he is a confident competitor. At the plate, it’s a really simple setup with a narrow base and a fairly upright stance. He uses a small toe-tap load for trigger, then uses his strong lower-half to impact the baseball at a high-level. He singled through the right side during one of his at-bats during this game and showed a quick first step out of the box. 5-11, 170 pound frame with a lot of athleticism. Moves/blocks well behind the plate & has a strong arm on throws to 2nd base.
