Vestavia Hills, AL - 7A No. 3 Vestavia Hills played host to 6A No. 5 Briarwood Christian on a chilly Wednesday night in Vestavia Hills, AL at the historic Sammy Dunn Field and improved to 3-0 in an 8-1 victory. The Rebel's gave the starting nod to '21 RHP Alden Windham, but used numerous other pitchers in relief behind him. The Lions turned to '21 RHP Jonah Carroll (No. 87, Meridian CC) on the mound.

The Rebels wasted no time getting on the board in the first after a clean 1st frame from Alden Windham. After an infield single from '21 OF Joseph Sullivan (No. 41, South Alabama) and two walks, '21 3B Jacob Newman flew out deep enough to right field to bring home the first run of the game on a RBI sacrifice fly that scored Sullivan from 3rd base. Vestavia Hills added two more runs on an error by the shortstop, and headed to the 2nd inning with a 3-0 lead.

Briarwood Christian responded in the 2nd inning with a run of their own, as '21 3B Parker Hutson hammered a fastball over the plate and deposited over the left field wall to cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the 2nd. Vestavia Hills would again add three more runs in the bottom of the 2nd, as '21 OF Joseph Sullivan (No. 41, South Alabama), '23 C/3B Hudson Walburn (No. 23), & '22 OF/C Pierce Hanna (No. 76) each recorded a RBI single of their own, extending the Rebel lead to 6-1 after two innings of play.

The Lions loaded the bases in the top of the 3rd on three walks, but '21 RHP Carter Tyus (No. 131, Birmingham Southern) got the 4-hole hitter to ground into a big inning-ending double play to extinguish the threat. The Rebels added another insurance run in the bottom half of the inning, as '21 3B/2B Braden Glenn singled up the middle to bring home a run and push the lead to 7-1.

The final scoring of the game came in the bottom of the 4th inning when '21 3B Jacob Newman doubled deep into the left-centerfield gap to bring home '23 1B Jackson Harris (No. 53) who singled to start the inning. The Rebels did an excellent job of limiting a potent Lion lineup to only one run on one hit. Four seniors all saw time on the mound during the game, as RHP Alden Windham (2 IP, 1 R, 3 K's), RHP Carter Tyus (2 IP, 2 K's), 3B/RHP Jacob Newman (1 IP, 2 K's), and RHP Brennan Cohen (2 IP, 4 K's) were strong in short stints on the mound.
