OUTLOOK:

Coach Andy Robbins welcomes back a strong nucleus for the 2020 season as 5 starters return in the field and 4 pitchers return with experience on the mound. The Saints do enter the new season looking for arms to provide some depth on the mound. Senior SS Myles White returns in 2020 and is a very smooth infielder that can make all of the throws across the diamond. The left handed hitter shows a solid approach at the plate with gap to gap power. Another senior, C Jake Farrell is also back and will be a leader for the Saints behind the dish. He is a solid receiver and also shows nice catch and throw skills. Offensively, he hits for average and also shows some pop in the barrel. Christian Brothers University commit Hayden Smith returns to the hot corner where he defends at a high level and looks to repeat his offensive success from a year ago. Junior OF/RHP Will Passeau shows advanced athleticism in the outfield covering a ton of ground with plenty of arm strength. The left handed swing is one of beauty with big time pop to all fields. Passeau will also see major time on the mound with an upper 80’s fastball. Another athletic junior for the Saints is OF/C Vinnie Bosio who is equally adept in the outfield and behind the plate. Bosio is a very instinctive player with plus base running skills and handles the bat very well. Junior OF/LHP Tyrese Rooks also returns and looks to provide the Saints with offensive firepower and is a plus runner as well. A few new players will be called in in 2020 as well. Sophomore OF Owen Beaverstock is a burner on the base paths and in the outfield while also hitting for power at the plate. Another 2022 grad to look for is OF/LHP Hayden O’Dell. As a LHP, O’Dell shows a high ceiling and does a nice job mixing pitches and can command all three pitches. He also shows an advanced approach at the plate from the left side. 3B/RHP Jacob Jernigan is another sophomore that will be called on to help this year that can do a lot of things offensively and is a high ceiling RHP that could ultimately end up as a nice arm on the mound. RHP Caleb Perkins is a sophomore that has a long, loose arm on the mound that will continue to gain velocity in the future. He already shows nice feel on the mound. The Saints have the pieces in place and could be a serious contender out of the south for the 5A crown.
