PBR Alabama Players of the Week: March 8-13

As the high school season continues to unfold in the state, action had definitely picked up as the weather has gotten warmer. This past week was a very busy one as several premier matchups happened throughout the state. Area play has already started for some teams while other teams will soon begin their quest for an area championship and state playoff spot. Congratulations to the players below that have earned "PBR Alabama Players of the Week". Thanks to the high school coaches that nominated players for this past week. This week we have 5 positional players, 5 pitcher only's and 8 two way players on the list. Let's see who those players are.
PBR ALABAMA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Positional Players:
+ Slate Alford (2021, 3B, Bob Jones) Alford sees his name on the lst again as he continues to put up impressive numbers during his senior campaign. The Mississippi State signee was 7-15 on the week including 3 2Bs and 1 HR. He also drove in 4 runs, drew 3 BBs and scored 6 runs.
+ Landon Baeder (2022, UTL, Hazel Green) The athletic junior had an outstanding week with the bat as he was 9-16 during the week with 3 2Bs and 1 3B. The utility player also drove in 9 runs for the Trojans.
+ Logan Collins (2022, SS, Smiths Station) Collins, a Wofford recruit, continues to swing a hot bat for the Panthers. Collins had 10 hits in 17 at bats with 3 long balls. He drove in 12 runs and scored an additional 10 runs. The junior continues to perform at an elite level.
+ Carter Colvin (2022, OF, Baker) Colvin solidified his reputation as a big time bat as he produced very well at the East Alabama Classic. For the week, he was 11-17 with 5 2Bs, 2 HRs and 7 RBIs. He scored an additional 6 runs and had a .700 OBP.
+ Brent Honaker (2022, C/1B, Ohatchee) The junior hit an even .550 (7-14) for the week, which included a grand slam. He drove in 7 runs and also got on base an additional 2 times vis HBP.
Pitcher Only:
+ Connor Adams (2021, RHP, Oak Mountain) The Birmingham Southern College signee continues to give the Eagles a quality start each time out. This week he had a complete game shutout versus Briarwood that included 8 Ks while only allowing 2 hits. He carried a no hitter though 5 2/3 innings.
+ Chase Allsup (2021, RHP, Dothan) Allsup had two appearances for the week and was downright dominant in each outing. He threw 6 innings versus Andalusia and only allowed 1 hit with no runs and 14 Ks. In 2 innings versus Charles Henderson, the Auburn signee threw 2 innings with no hits or runs while striking out 5 more hitters. For the week: 8 IP, 1 hit allowed, 0 runs, 19 Ks
+ Trent Hodgdon (2021, RHP, Smiths Station) Hodgdon can swing the bat as well as he put up some nice numbers for the Panthers this week but the senior West Virginia signee just continues to dominate on the bump. Hodgdon was 2-0 during the week (10 IP), allowing 6 hits to go along with 14 Ks.
+ Eli Jackson (2022, LHP, Hamilton) The junior southpaw had a stellar outing on Saturday versus Muscle Shoals. Jackson tossed a complete game no-hitter as he went 7 innings with 10 Ks and no BBs. He did hit one batter but also helped himself at the plate with 2 BBs and a sacrifice bunt.
+ Hayden Stancil (2022, RHP, Cullman) Stancil delivered a big time perfomance for the Bearcats on Friday night as he tossed 8 innings and only allowed 5 hits. He did not factor into the decision as Cullman eventually won in 10 innings but the junior did strikeout 17 hitters while only walking 2 and giving up 2 earned runs.
Two Way Players:
+ Dee Bonner (2021, UTL, Lee-Montgomery) Bonner performed well this week for the Generals as he went 6.1 innings on the mound only giving up 2 earned runs. He walked 2 hitters but struck out 8. With the bat he was 5-10 with 4 2Bs nd 5 RBIs. He also scored 3 runs and swiped 2 bases.
+ Austin Estes (2022, OF/RHP, Piedmont) Estes was an integral part (MVP) of Piedmont winning the Calhoun County Tournament. Offensively, he was 9-16 with 2 2Bs, 1 3B and 4 RBIs. He also had a stolen base on the week. On the mound, the junior went 8.1 innings with 9 Ks while only allowing 3 hits. He was 2-0 with wins over Southside and Oxford.
+ Brodey Lentz (2022, LHP/OF, Lauderdale County) Lentz has long been known as an arm but this week he excelled with the bat as well. The junior was 8-10 with 1 2B, 1 3B, 5 RBIs and 2 SBs. On the mound, the southpaw threw 2 innings with 3 Ks and gained a save.
+ Zion Morris (2021, RHP/OF, Central Phenix City) Morris continued to perform at a high level this week as he added to his homerun count by belting 3 more long balls. The Central Alabama CC signee was 6-12 with 9 RBIs and 5 runs scored. Morris also gained a save on the mound as the Red Devils continue to roll.
+ Max Morrison (2023, 2B/RHP, Lindsay Lane Christian Academy) The one sophomore on the list, Morrison helped his team rise to #1 in the latest 1A poll. He was 9-14 (.643 BA) for the week with 3 2Bs, 3 RBIs and also scored 5 runs. On the mound he threw 5.1 innings with 11 Ks and did not allow any hits or runs and was part of a combined no-hitter.
+ Brennen Norton (2021, SS/RHP, Cullman) Norton was as impressive as anyone in the state this week as he was 6-11 with 4 HRs and 6 RBIs. One of those homeruns was a 10th inning walkoff bomb. The Jacksonville State signee also walked twice and gained the win in relief (2 IP) versus Madison Academy in G2 on Friday night.
+ Jackson Sweatt (2021, UTL/RHP, Pell City) Sweatt is another player that performed at a high level as a dual guy for the week. The Southern Union CC signee was 5-12 with 2 2Bs, 1 3B and 1 HR with the bat. He also scored 9 runs and walked 6 times. On the mound, he threw 9 innings and allowed only 6 hits while striking out 14 hitters and not allowing a run. This included a 7 inning complete game win versus Chelsea.
+ Nick Whitten (2021, CF/LHP, Deshler) The senior was 6-14 with a 3B and a HR and drove in 5 runs for the Tigers. He was equally impressive on the bump during the week as well as he put up some impressive numbers. Whitten tossed 7.1 innings on the mound and struck out 17 hitters.
