On January 28th the Prep Baseball Report hosted the Preseason Prospect ID at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson, MS. Today, our scouting staff gives its analysis of the outfielders in attendance

+ Alfred Barnes, OF, Vicksburg, 2018
Medium 5-foot-11, 185-pound frame with athletic build. Right-handed hitter that starts from tall setup with hands starting at shoulder height. Loose rhythm with slight shift of weight loading. Front foot hitter as barrel works uphill through contact producing an exit velocity of 77 mph. Defender with receptive hands, showing deliberate footwork, clean exchanges, and plays through the ball athletically with big crow-hop. Short, high-3/4 arm stroke producing a positional velocity of 78 mph.

+ Dalton Baxley, RHP/OF, Enterprise, 2018
Athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame, with room for added strength. Quality level of athleticism posting a 6.97 60-yard dash. Solid defender with soft hands, fluid aggressive footwork, clean exchanges while playing through ball athletically. Short, quick arm stroke with accuracy and carry on throws and solid arm strength, produced a positional velocity of 89 mph from outfield

+ Carson Buckner, OF, Germantown, 2021
Long-limb 5-foot-7, 135-pound frame with room for continued growth. Left-handed hitter tall, slightly open setup with handed slightly above shoulders. Simple shift of weight loading with short stride and balance. Rotational path creating line-drive/ground ball contact to the pull side with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 80 mph. Outfielder that worked through balls with deliberate footwork, receptive hands and clean exchange. Slow gather into medium arm stroke and high-3/4 release that produced a positional velocity of 74 mph. Ran a 7.27 60-yard dash.

+ Trey Burrell, OF, Hewitt-Trussville, 2021
Athletic 5-foot-6, 145-pound with room for added strength. Right-handed hitter that starts from tall, open setup with barrel resting shoulder before loading. Works closed with simple leg lift rhythm as hands separate. Line-drive approach with direct path, into loose uphill finish through contact and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 81 mph. Defender with receptive hands, that worked through balls well with short, aggressive footwork. Short high-3/4 arm stroke that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash.

+ Keshun Collier, OF, Mendenhall, 2020
Approximately 5-foot-8, 135-pound frame with twitchy, athletic build. Solid level of athleticism posting a 60-yard dash time of 6.92. Left-handed hitter stands tall with a balanced setup and abrupt leg lift load. Flat, rotational path with quick hands through the zone posting an exit velocity of 81 mph. Defensively, worked through balls with short choppy footwork and developing actions. Short high-3/4 arm stroke with stiffness posting a positional velocity of 77 mph.

+ JaVeon Dampier,, OF, Mendenhall, 2020
Medium 5-foot-7, 185-pound frame with thick build. Right-handed hitter that starts from tall setup with loose rhythm in hands. Abrupt leg lift loading with short stride, strong aggressive approach, and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 81 mph. Defender with receptive hands, showing developing footwork, clean exchanges, while working through balls well. Medium 3/4 arm stroke producing a positional velocity of 69 mph. Ran a 7.47 60-yard dash.

+ Bryson Faust, OF, Loranger, 2021
Medium 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame. Right-handed hitter that starts from tall, stack setup with loose rhythm in hands. Direct, rotational path with stiffness in uphill finish that produced an exit velocity of 82 mph. Defender that worked through ball athletically with smooth, slow footwork, receptive hands into clean transfers. Short, high-3/4 arm stroke with stiffness in finish, recorded a infield positional velocity of 84 mph and an outfield velocity of 84 mph. Ran a 7.22 60-yard dash. 

+ Billy Garrity, OF/3B, Sumrall, 2019
Athletic 6-foot, 195-pound frame with present strength in build. Quality athlete ran a 7.03 60-yard dash. Left-handed hitter starts from a tall, slightly open, grounded stance. Simple load back using a subtle leg lift as he triggers his hands back, then takes a short stride. Quick-strong hands, compact path to contact, gap approach, hard contact with strength and good extension through contact; produced an exit velocity of 93 mph. Outfield that plays through the ball with smooth footwork and made accurate throws from a short high-3/4 release producing a positional velocity of 83 mph.

+ Ben Harper, OF, Lafayette, 2019
Athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame with lean build. Left-handed hitter that hits from tall, open setup with hands starting low and tight to body. Knee to knee load with balance, short stride and solid use of lower half. Direct path, working slightly uphill through the finish with quick hands and loose finish that produced an exit velocity of 81 mph. Defender with average hands, clean exchanges, and smooth footwork, working through the ball well. Short arm stroke into high-3/4 release that produced a positional velocity of 72 mph. Ran a 7.16 60-yard dash.

+ Evan Keith, OF/3B, Vancleave, 2018
Average 6-foot-1, 186-pounds with lean, athletic build. Right-handed hitter starts from a tall, stacked setup, with simple repeatable load, short stride and balanced throughout. Quick hands, short path with line drive contact that produced an exit velocity of 85 mph. Solid defender that worked through balls athletically with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchanges into short high-3/4 release producing a positional velocity 84 mph from outfield. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash.

+ Derral Lott, OF, Mendenhall, 2018
Medium build 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starts from a narrow setup, and loads with a simple shift of weight back, then takes a medium stride, landing with developing balance. Short, rotational swing with uphill finish , producing an exit velocity of 78 mph. Outfielder that plays through the ball with  receptive hands, throwing from a high-¾ slot with stiffness in finish that produced an infield velocity of 70 mph. Ran a 7.75 60-yard dash.

+ Mitchell Martin, OF, Brandon, 2019
Stocky, athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 175-pounds. The right-handed hitter starts from a, relaxed open setup with weight loaded on backside. Smooth leg kick load back as he triggers his hands as he lands closed and balance. Flat, loose, whippy path through the zone creating line drive contact, recording an exit velocity of 84 mph. In the outfield, he plays through the ball with receptive hands, clean exchange, and throws from a high slot with a short arm stroke and posted a positional velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash.

+ Will Martin, OF, Brandon, 2021
Average 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame with room for continued growth. Left-handed hitter shows rhythm throughout with a smooth simple load and loose-quick hands. Stacked setup and balanced throughout, leverage through the zone the produced an exit velocity of 80 mph. Outfield gains ground on ground balls, working through the catch with fluid footwork and clean exchange, posting a positional velocity of 80 mph. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash.

+ John Mitchell, OF/RHP, South Jones, 2019
Lean 6-foot-4, 190-pound with athletic build. Displayed solid athleticism posting a 6.81 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter that starts from a tall stacked setup with loose rhythm. Works into load with controlled leg kick, as hands separate back and down, landing balanced. Short, rotational path creating line-drive/ground ball contact with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 93 mph. Outfielder that plays through the ball with smooth footwork, athletic strides, clean exchange, and throws from a high-¾ slot with accuracy posting a positional velocity of 85 mph.

Young, athletic 5-foot-8, 125-pound frame, room for continued growth. Quality defender that plays through ball with smooth, fluid rhythm, clean midline exchange into a long loose arm stroke with accuracy and carry, posting a positional velocity of 87 mph. Switch hitter that hits from tall, balanced, athletic setup. Hands work back and down on load with loose rhythm and short stride. Line drive/ground ball type approach, with short path into slightly uphill finish and developing strength, produced exit velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 7.52 60-yard dash.

+ Cole Pittman, OF, Porters Chapel Academy, 2019
Wiry 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with room for added strength. Right-handed hitter starting from tall, open setup with hands slightly above shoulders. Works closed with toe tap load as hands separate working down creating front arm bar with medium stride. Loose, rotational path producing  an exit velocity 78 mph. Defender that plays through the ball with rhythm, receptive hands, and throws from a medium arm swing producing a positional velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.59 60-yard das

+ Luke Robertson, OF, Madison Central, 2020
Athletic 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starts from an open, tall setup working closed with a pronounced leg kick. Creates good hand separation at foot strike Short, rotational path with quick hands produced a mix of line drives and ground balls from the middle to pull side with an exit velocity of 88 mph. Solid defender that worked through balls athletically with fluid, aggressive footwork and soft hands with clean exchanges. Short high-3/4 arm stroke that produced a positional velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 7.65 60-yard dash.

+ Chase Rush, OF, Jackson Academy, 2020
Athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame with lean build. Displayed solid level of athleticism posting a 6.94 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter starts from a tall, neutral setup with hands starting slightly above shoulders. Loose rhythm in hands with simple shift of weight loading. Rotational path into uphill finish that produced an exit velocity of 78 mph. Defender that worked through balls well with deliberate, athletic footwork, receptive hands working into a short, stiff arm stroke producing a positional velocity of 74 mph.

Wiry 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame. Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, athletic setup with hands starting above shoulders.  Simple load with short stride and direct path with loose natural uphill finish and good use of lower half producing an exit velocity of 81 mph. Outfielder with receptive hands, smooth footwork, clean exchanges as he works through the ball. Medium arm action into high-3/4 release  produced a positional velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. 

+ Walker Thompson, OF, West Jones, 2019
Long-limb 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame with room to continue to fill. Right-handed hitter that starts from a balanced, relax setup with flex in his lower half with simple, smooth load and loose-quick hands.
