Future Game 2019 participant OF Trey Burrell (No. 82, 2021, Grambling State) showed off his varied skill set in 2 games on Saturday as he just continues to shine for Hewitt-Trussville. Hitting out of the leadoff spot, the senior showed he could do it all with the bat he had 4 hits on the day. He showed some pop off the barrel as he left the yard to the pull side and a few plate appearances later didn’t try to do too much and showed plate discipline by serving a single to the backside. If that wasn’t enough, Burrell later dropped down a perfect drag bunt that he beat out easily with his speed. The arm strength in the outfield appears to have improved as well.

Athletic OF that can also play on the dirt in the middle (SS/2B). Does a very nice of attacking balls in front of him in the OF with a very quick transfer and carry on his throws at 86 mph from the OF. Repeatedly gave the catcher big hops and the throws stayed on line. The athleticism showed will on the IF as well where his footwork before and after fielding ground balls was fluid. Did a nice job with the glove presentation and gathering himself to make throws to 1B. Really short, compact approach at the plate as he starts from an open stance and showed quick hands to the hitting zone. The swing plane has some tilt in it and he consistently shows gap to gap juice each time we see him.

1.20.19- has been impressive every time we see him and this time was no exception. Athletic enough to be a plus defender on the dirt on in the outfield. Has a very accurate arm from the OF and does a nice job of getting the ball. On the infield the feet and glove do a nice job of working together and his athleticism allows for him to cover a lot of ground. May be a 2B down the line on the dirt. Although small in stature he continues to show pop at the plate and is a definite gap to gap 2B type hitter (90 mph exit velocity off of a tee). Starts with a slightly open stance, smooth rhythm, nice barrel control and a definite middle approach.

10.14.18 continues to impress at our events. Maybe not the tallest but is well put together and that translates on the field. No problem covering ground in the OF (4.36 H-1B) with a strong arm to go with it (82 OF velo) with impressive accuracy.  Has some juice at the plate (85 mph exit velo off of a tee) and creates some torque with his lower half. Knows his strengths and is impressive on the base paths with his speed. Had a line drive 1B to RF in the game that was 88 mph off of the bat.

Trey Burrell (2021, OF, Hewitt Trussville) 5’6 147 lbs-  7.10.18- in the OF he played behind the ball very well, had good use of momentum and his legs, showing a good arm with an 82 OF velo. At the plate he showed some juice during BP and the game and creates backspin with his powerful short stroke. He ran a 7.09 60 yard dash and had an exit velocity off of a tee at 87.
