December 18, 2020
We continue our countdown of the Top Profiles of 2020 with '21 LHP Cole Cheatham at No. 16. Cheatham was on Team Alabama at the 2019 PBR Future Games and committed to Mississippi State shortly after this summer's Top Prospect Games.
At the Top Prospect Games this June, Cheatham put his premium stuff on display, running his fastball up to 92 mph and showing high spin rates at 2400-2500 RPM's. Standing at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, the southpaw flipped in some quality breaking balls with spin rates up to 2488 RPM's. He offers some deception in his delivery and possesses a funky arm slot making him a tough matchup for any-sided hitter. As previously mentioned, he committed to Mississippi State shortly after the event.

Scouting Report
6-foot-2, 187-pound. Advanced on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a very quick arm action and an over-the-top arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher and shows easy effort. Threw his fastball 88-91 mph and topped out at 92 mph; shows very consistent command and running action. His sharp curveball (78-80) had tight action and very consistent control. Showed very tight spin on the breaking ball that was filthy to compliment a high level fastball. Committed to Mississippi State the day after the event.
Had a nice stint on the mound. Had a bit of a deceptive, funky motion and hid the ball well in his delivery. The FB sat in the low 80’s and topped at 84 a few times. The ASR from this lefty was legit. The CB took very nice shape and showed sharp, late down action. The change up showed deception at 73 mph. Slender build with quick action in the delivery and the arm works from a short ¾ slot. Really like this LHP.
