December 20, 2017
2017 was a great year, as we look forward to 2018, let us take time to review the top stories or accomplishments from 2017.
Today we will start with No.10 and the Woodlawn Bears.
The Bears completed the difficult feat of repeating as State Champions. Woodlawn won the 2016 AA State Championship and completed is 2017 season 33-1 with a 1A State Championship.
Their roster was loaded with strong junior class that carried the load both on the mound and offensively. 2018 RHP Will Richardson was key contributor all season, hit in the middle of the order and was one of their top starting pitchers. Richardson absolutely put on a show in the state championship hitting two home runs and picking up the win on , mound.
Woodlawn’s lone loss on the season came at the hands of 7A Springdale High School, in a spring break tournament. This was one of the more dominant season in Arkansas baseball history with a under 2.00 and an offense that drove in over 8 runs per game.

2018 Forecast
The Bears look to be a lock for a 3rd straight championship. On the mound they return 2018 RHP Will Richardson, 2018 RHP Reece Michaels, 2019 RHP Sam West. All have the ability to command the strike zone with mid 80’s fastball and solid secondary pitches. Defensively they will be anchored at short stop by 2018 MIF Matt Aiken has been a 3 year starter and has shown to be a consistent defender. Offensively look for the players above to be key contributors as well as 2019 C/OF Nick Ward who attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and aggressive approach. He will provide protection for Richardson in the middle of the line up with raw power of his own.
