2020 Rankings Breakdown: Players No.1-No.5

Our staff has covered corner to corner of the state over the last 6 months looking for the top prospects the state of Arkansas has to offer. The 2020 class continues to impress with their depth and advanced offensive skill sets, several players have shown. We released our updated 2020 rankings on Thursday, August 31st. Below are the scouting reports on players ranked No.1- No.5, we will continue to high light players from the class in the upcoming days, as well as continue to dissect this class and look for more players on the field and in our events. 

Cayden Wallace 3B / RHP / Greenbrier, AR / 2020

Wallace is a 6-foot 200-pound corner infielder with an large frame and a physical build. He impresses with his raw power and his ability to hit the ball to all fields. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a slight leg lift and loads his hands back. He attacks the baseball with an uphill bat path and fast bat speed producing exit velocities up to 91 mph. He shows an advanced feel for the barrel with consistent loud contact. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork, a normal exchange and an accurate arm with carry. He is a solid athlete which runs a 7.21 in the 60. Overall Wallace is a sound defender with an advanced offensive skill set.

Wallace is a 6-foot 200-pound right-hander with a large frame and a physical build. He commands the strike zone with a fastball which works 84-86 flashed up to 87 mph. He uses a simple delivery with repeated mechanics and fast rhythm. He pitches from a H 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action with quick arm speed. He compliments his fastball with a curveball thrown 73-75 mph with 11/5 shape and early break. Overall Wallace is a physical player with a quick arm and a feel for the strike zone.  

Tyler Cacciatori RHP / SS / Sheridan , AR / 2020

Cacciatori is a 6-foot-3 175-pound right-hander with a large frame and a thin build. He pitches from a L 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm. He attacks the strike zone with his fastball thrown 82-85 mph. He has command of a Frisbee slider with late break thrown 70-73 mph. He throws his changeup with fastball arm speed at 72-74 mph. Overall a player with a fast arm and an advanced feel to pitch.

Clayton Gray OF / Cabot , AR / 2020

Gray is 5-foot-10 150-pound outfielder with an athletic frame and build. His elite speed make him a top prospect in the 2020 class as he runs a 6.43 in the 60. Defensively he shows sound instincts on balls in the air, he plays through the baseball with sound footwork and a short arm action from  a high 3/4 slot. He throws the baseball 78 mph accurately from the outfield.  Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a simple load stride combination. He attacks the baseball with an uphill bat path and produces exit velocities up to 87 mph. Overall Gray is an advanced athlete with well round skills in all facets of his game. 

Houston King OF / LHP / Cabot, AR / 2020

King is a 5-foot-11 165-pound outfielder with an athletic frame and build. Offensively he starts from a slightly open stance, he dives back into the baseball  with his load stride combination. He gets in line and attacks the baseball with a line drive swing with some rotation to it. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid footwork, a normal exchange and quick arm. He throws the baseball accurately  at 81 mph from the outfield. King is an advanced runner, running a 6.64 in the 60. Overall an advanced athlete with high end tools, he will be a player to watch progress over the next 3 years.

G Allen SS / 3B / Little Rock Christian, AR / 2020

Allen is a 6-foot-1 190-pound infielder with a large frame and physical build. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a leg lift as his load stride timing mechanism. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed with a slight uphill swing. He shows a feel for the barrel and raw power to the pull side. Defensively he plays through the baseball with some stiffness to his actions. He uses a short arm action from a low ¾ arm slot to throw the baseball accurately across the infield. Overall Allen is a physical player with advanced offensive tools, he is a name to follow in the 2020 class.
