2022 MLB Draft: A sophomore who is 2022 draft-eligible by age, Wallace lacks explosive tools and doesn't have a huge upside with projection, but he's a steady performer with very good makeup and is likely to overachieve during his pro career. After a strong freshman season in Fayetteville (.279/.369/.500 with 14 home runs) and Cape last summer (.290/.352/.468), Wallace continues to improve this spring. With a strong arm and a powerful right handed bat he's athletic and physical at 6-foot, 205 pounds. He swings hard with sound mechanics, using his above average bat speed to barrel up balls and generate consistent 100+ mph exit velocities. A question mark entering the season was a 21.9% strikeout rate in 279 plate appearances during 2021. Wallace has continued to hit for power, while lowering his K rate this season to 17.5% (55 in 314 plate appearances). Defensively, he's sure handed with average to better range. He shows plus arm strength with good accuracy as he stays behind the ball producing backspin and strong carry across the infield. He projects to become a future average to better defender in pro ball. Although his tools and to date performance (.297/.389/.556 with 16 home runs) are more closely aligned with a second-to-third round prospect, expect the healthy and productive Wallace to hear his name called anytime beginning around pick No. 35.

He lacks explosive tools and doesn't have a huge upside with projection, but he's a steady performer with very good makeup and is likely to overachieve during his pro career. After a strong freshman season in Fayetteville (.279/.369/.500 with 14 home runs) and Cape last summer (.290/.352/.468), Wallace continues to improve this spring. With a plus arm and a powerful right handed bat he's athletic and physical at 6-foot, 205 pounds. He finished the series 4-for-11 at the plate. A question mark entering the season was a 21.9% strikeout rate in 279 plate appearances during 2021. He showed plus arm strength with good accuracy as he stays behind the ball producing backspin and strong carry across the infield. He projects to become a future average to better defender in pro ball. Cape Cod- Having just completed his true freshman season for the Razorbacks, Wallace will likely become a sophomore draft-eligible by age in 2022 due to an early August birthday. He's an emerging superstar for the Hogs after a strong spring (.279/.369/.500 with 14 home runs) and an even stronger Cape (.290/.352/.468). At 6-foot, 205 pounds Wallace is an immensely exciting talent, with a rifle arm and a powerful right handed bat. He's athletic and physical with above average bat speed and run speed. He swings hard, barrels up balls and generates better exit velocities than most. Like most power hitting freshmen in the SEC, Wallace struck out too much and must reduce his K rate to fully enhance his draft value. His swing can be considered unorthodox, but it works for him. He has a tendency to step out, taking his head with him in the process and is more of a guess hitter at this point of his development. However, he has guessed right often enough to produce at a high level and sits near the top of scout's follow lists for 2022. He's easily a top 100 talent at this point in the draft process.
