Unsigned Senior Games: Quick Hits

By: Zac Bottoms
Arkansas Scouting Director

Today we hosted the 2017 Unsigned Senior Games at Burns Park, in North Little Rock, with Arkansas Baptist as the host institution. The event saw 36 players compete in a pro-style work out and a 9-inning game which saw 17 pitchers compete. Here are some quick hits from today.

2018 OF Avery Bramlett, Clinton HS, burst onto the scene. An unknown by our staff and many talent evaluators around the state. Bramlett had a big day, grabbing everyone’s attention immediately as he posted a 6.56 in the 60. Defensively he showed solid instincts and fluid footwork, throwing baseball accurately. Offensively he showed some promise from the left-side barreling balls consistently in BP and hitting a double in game. He is a player I look forward to diving in on my complete analysis to come later.

2018 OF/LHP Cameron Poston, Jonesboro HS, is a solid two-way prospect. He showed sound defensively playing through the baseball with fluid footwork and a strong arm with carry from the outfield. Offensively he dominated the day, loud contact rounds and batting practice and similar at bats in game as he picked up multiple hits. On the mound, he worked a quick inning with a fastball that worked 80-83 mph with slight run. He also showed feel for a curveball and changeup. Poston should have turned some of the heads of the talent evaluators in attendance during his impressive performance.

2018 INF/OF/RHP- Ryan Daggs, Greenwood HS, just hits. Every time I see Daggs he squares the baseball up on a consistent basis, today was no different. Daggs recorded three extra base hits including a triple. Defensively he showed the baseball skills to play infield or outfield. On the infield showed skill enough to play 2nd or 3rd consistently. On the mound, he competed in the strike zone with 3 pitches including a fastball which worked 79-82 mph. Daggs is a baseball player that competes and plays hard every time I see him and he did the same today.

Overall the event was solid with a deep pool of players. I will be digging into these players deeply over the next month and look forward to featuring them in the unsigned senior section we run on a weekly basis and watching them commit to the colleges of their choices over the next few months.
