PBR Arizona sat down with recent Grand Canyon commit 2021 SS Andy Moreno to talk about his decision making process and what sold him on the ‘Lopes.  As always please keep us posted on any commitments that are made so we can cover them appropriately.

PBR: Why did you choose Grand Canyon?
Moreno: I chose Grand Canyon because of the coaching staff; they have so much knowledge and experience coming from the professional level which is where I want to be. Also it’s close to home so my parents can come watch whenever they want.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Moreno: I was considering Vanderbilt, Oregon State, and Miami.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them
Moreno: These past few big events I attended really got them interested and led to an offer.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
Moreno: I would have to say my dad; he’s been there through it all and has taught me everything I know.

PBR: What organization do you play for in the summer/fall and what has that experience been like?
Moreno: Well this past summer I went to Everett Washington to practice with the Seattle Mariners. This fall I’m playing with the AZ Athletics Orange run by Eric Gardner.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have for you in your freshman season?
Moreno: The coaching staff has great plans for me at GCU. They want me to get stronger and earn a spot on the field.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
Moreno: I would have to say getting a chance to have a practice in the Marlins’ stadium.  That was an unforgettable moment for me.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Arizona?
Moreno: It would be too hard for me to pick one out of so many great competitors.
