PBR X CSN PRO DAY PREVIEW: Position player

We are just a few days out from the first ever PBR x CSN Pro Day taking place at Las Vegas Ballpark. This event will highlight the College of Southern Nevada prospects with MLB Scouts, Crosschecker, Supervisor and Directors in attendance. The Pro Day will include a Pro-Style Workout with position players receiving their updated metrics in the 60 Yard Dash (Laser Timed), TrackMan and Blast Motion analyzed Batting Practice Session, Catcher Pop Time/Velocity, Outfield Velocity/Evaluation, Infield Velocity/Evaluation and finally Pitcher Bullpens which will be analyzed and assessed by TrackMan.

We will now take a look at each of the Pitching prospects that will be in attendance with reports provided by Head Coach, Nick Garritano.

Garritano Notes – "R/R.  5’11” 185 lbs.  Dax is a phenom. One of the best all-around athletes to play at CSN. He is quick, has great instincts, plays the game hard 100% of the time, and plays the game the right way. Tremendous first step. Can play SS, 2B, or 3B at any level. Will also play CF if needed as well. Dax hit .417 with gap to gap power against elite (nationally) pitching early in our season in 2019. 2020 season obviously cut short he was on track to be drafted as expected.  He will be at the top of our lineup again for 2021. The kid can run as well. 6.64, 60 yds. He is a top end pro prospect. High School All-American out of Las Vegas, NV."

Garritano Notes - "R/R. 6’2, 205 lbs.  Jacob is a bounce back Sophomore from UNLV where he was the starting catcher for his freshman year and sophomore year until he had an injury.  Jacob is considered one of the best catch and throw guys in the country at any college level. Really knows how to call a game and has that old school instinct of leading a defense. Offensively he has ability to hit the ball to all fields and shows really good leverage to get the ball out of the yard. Can also handle the bat and loves to play team baseball. Jacob is a true leader on and off the field and does a really good job in the classroom."

Garritano Notes - "L/L. 6’2, 225 lbs.  Highly recruited and sought after out of high school. 9th overall first baseman by PBR and 57th OF from Perfect Game.  All-American and 2018 Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year. Transfer from the University of Kentucky. Justin has big strong frame. Big power bat that is patient at the plate with even more in him. Hard working, loves the gym and passion for baseball and his team. High character."

Garritano Notes - "R/R. 6’1, 200 lbs. Damiano brings a very versatile dynamic at the plate and in the infield. Solid pro body build. Very hard worker in weight room and on the field. Gap to gap hitter with power to all fields. Very athletic. Great instincts on the bases. Tremendous first step in field on the bases. Smart instinctual baseball player. Will improve his draft stock substantially being eligible again after two years.  Played high school baseball at Vauxhall Academy in Alberta from 2015-2020.  High school: U18 Canadian National team 2016-2018.  Attended 2017 Area code games with Kansas City Royals.  2017 Canada summer games athlete slashed .415/1/7.  PBR Alberta #1 ranked player 2018 class.  Drafted by Toronto Blue Jays 35th round 2018 MLB Draft."

Garritano Notes - "L/L. 6’4” 215.  Austin is a Division 1 transfer from TCU. He will be a red shirt freshman with being able to gain his year back due to Covid. Austin is a physical left-handed hitter with power to all fields.  He finished his first year with a .360 average and 2 home runs. He has mostly played right field for us, however he has the ability to play all three-outfield positions. His arm strength is well above average, he finished the season with two outfield assists. Austin has all the tools to be a high draft pick and a power five-division type of player. He is also a high character person with a great personality."
