British Columbia Insider: Uncommitted Spotlight- Class of 2018 Grads
As we head into the summer and schools look to put together final pieces to their incoming roster and take care of spots that have become left open from draft and last minute surprises, here is 5 names that can make an impact on programs this coming fall and be some nice pieces to add as we head into the summer months.
Jack Ray SS / RHP / New Westminster, BC / 2018Report: The 5-foot-11, 160-pound shortstop from the Chilliwack Cougars showed the ability to handle the bat at our BC Open ID. The right-handed hitting Ray was steep at times with his swing, but showed he could drive the ball gap-to-gap with balance and feel for the barrell. When he gets extended through the contact, the ball jumped off bat while there is still plenty of room for Ray to add strength to his frame. |
Kieran Bowles 2B / SS / NA, BC / 2018Report: Bowles, an uncommitted 2018 grad out of Parksville Royals organization, is a second baseman who displayed body control and the hands worked with feel in the infield, coming through baseballs and can make plays on both sides. At the plate, there is a good foundation to work with as he stays in his legs and can pull his hands through the baseball and work inside the ball. Interesting 2018 grad that can play at the next level. |
Kiran Carcary OF / Ballenas, BC / 2018Report: 2018 left-handed hitting outfielder who can do a little bit of everything on the field. Ran a 7.13 60-Yard-dash that will get quicker as he gets more strength on his 5-foot-11 frame. The swing plays with looseness in the hands and some whip through the zone. Gets his hands ready early and was able to stay on top and jump some line drives to his pull side in BP, exit velo was 85 mph. Carcary was 81 mph from the outfield and when he adds strength and maturity comes into play, don’t be surprised to see his game evolve. |
Jared Crossley 2B / SS / Elgin Park, BC / 2018Report: Crossley, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound, left-handed hitting middle infielder from the Langley Blaze is an unsigned senior who has feel for the bat and is more of a contact, line drive guy that can move the baseball and put together tough at-bats. There is some unorthodox parts to the swing, but there is hand-eye and he manages to find barrels and spray the ball across the diamond. A 7.06 runner, Crossley is a reliable defender with some whip out front and profiles more of a second baseman at the next level. |
Sasha Kamenjasevic LHP / Langley, BC / 2018Report: Kamenjasevic, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound left-handed arm that worked his fastball in the 80-82 range while his best pitch was his breaking ball that was 66-67 mph and had 2/8 shape and some bite when down. There are some mechanical adjustments that can be made, but the size and curveball out of the left arm are signs that there is more to come and can be a sleeper for a program looking to add a left-hander to their stable. |
