PBR Colorado strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work in tandem, ultimately creating the most powerful source of high school baseball promotion in each state.  While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

With the the first signing period passing, we reached out to committed players from the 2018 class to hear about their baseball career and to gain insight into their recruitment. Continuing our look is No. 51 2018 LHP Will Brassil of Holy Family who is committed to New Mexico

PBR: Why did you choose The University of New Mexico?

Brassil:  I chose the University of New Mexico because of Coach Ray Birmingham and his coaching staff, their wining tradition, their facilities, and the overall atmosphere at UNM.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Brassil:  I was also considering Florida Atlantic University, Duke, and Shoreline.

PBR: Where did they first see you?

Brassil:  One of the UNM coaches called me and let me know they had seen me play and that they were interested in me as a two way player. He invited me come to camp so I could get to know the coaching staff and personallly experience UNM.

PBR:  How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Brassil:  My relationship developed at the UNM camp immediately in person with Coach Birmingham, Coach Gouldsmith and the UNM coaching staff.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?

Brassil:  My goal is to make an impact on the field in my first year and I expect to learn a lot while gaining strength and making big improvements in every facet of my game.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Brassil:  I have been blessed to have many people impact me in a very big way as a ball player. My parents, my Grandfather John Brassil (former professional player), my Uncle Tom Brassil (former professional player and coach), Greg Riddoch (my mentor, former professional player, MLB scout, MLB coach, MLB manager and MLB GM), Chris Knabenshue (my Triple Crown coach, MLB scout and former professional player), Brad Moore (former MLB pitcher), Rolando Arrojo (MLB scout and former MLB pitcher), Roberto Hernandez (former MLB pitcher), Randy Sullivan (FBR) and my Holy Family High School Coach Marc Cowell.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?

Brassil:  I have made significant improvements in my pitching (command, selection and velocity), in all aspects of my hitting and in my overall strength.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have played against or with?

Brassil:  Calvin Marley (2018)

PBR: What are your thoughts on the recruiting process?  Any advice for other players who have the desire to play college baseball.

Brassil:  The recruiting process is exciting.  Seek out and learn from the best teachers, hang around with people who have similar goals and dreams, enjoy the hard work required for the process of development, use adversity as fuel for improvement, and be seen by college coaches as often as possible.
