2021 Future Games Spotlight: Finley Bates

The 2021 PBR Future Games has come and gone. The event featured the top uncommitted 2023 and 2024 players around the country representing their home state in front of over 350+ college coaches. Team Colorado had high energy and talented squad who showcased their abilities all week. Team Colorado went 3-0 with wins over PBR Select, Oklahoma and Utah. Just as impressive, was our players' individual GPA’s. Their futures are bright as the true definition of student-athletes. 

Post event, we plan on highlighting ALL of our Future Team Members.  

Today, we highlight: Finley Bates

2023, Finley Bates, MIF, Douglas County, (Colorado Yard Dogs) Strong production and results in every game Finley plays. Defensive “feel” at short and second. Sees the game and adjusts in advance. Makes routine play consistently, hands play through ball and feet are active. Great on each side of second. As a hitter, solid base creates max bat speed and aggressive approach. gap to gap approach. Exit velocity of 92. 7.10 60 time. Tools continue to trend up, as well as strength. Finley finds his way to leadership roles on all teams. Would consider Finley to be one of the top prospects in the Colorado class of 2023.

Hit: RHH, Wide base, double touch hanging stride that allows for maximum separation and the ability to get to a powerful launch position.  Demonstrates good rhythm and is smooth to the contact point.  Attacks the ball with hand speed and lower body acceleration.  Consistent, hard contact with top hand release and sound approach.  Power is generated due to a solid lower half and will increase with maturity and physical growth, currently gap power with potential for positive growth in this area. Exit Velocity: 86
Defense: Infield. Sound approach from infield at a variety of angles.  Solid footwork allows him to use his arm strength. Quick arm speed and soft hands allow him to field balls out in front, active hands creates good glove position.  Solid fundamentals and athleticism allow Finley to be one of the premier players in his class.
