The PBR Colorado staff is excited to announce we have selected one athlete who has excelled amongst his peers and will receive this year's Prep Baseball Report Colorado Player of the Year Award:

Walker Martin

Martin is a left-handed hitting shortstop from Eaton High School who helped his team complete an undefeated season (29-0) this spring en route to a third straight 3A State Championship. He also led the nation in multiple major hitting categories.

In 2023, Martin hit for a .633 average and 2.355 OPS with 20 home runs and 75 RBI. Both of Martin's home run and RBI totals ended up leading the entire nation while he also went deep in 9 straight games in the middle of the season. Martin collected 50 total hits with 11 doubles, 4 triples, a .722 on-base percentage, 1.632 slugging percentage, walked 33 times and swiped 11 bases.

Martin also excelled on the football field as he was the 2023 3A state Player of the Year while leading the Eaton Reds' football program to a 3rd straight state title and scoring 41 total touchdowns this year.

The senior has signed to continue playing baseball at the University of Arkansas, but is projected to be an early round draft-pick in the upcoming MLB Draft beginning on July 9.

The Prep Baseball Report Colorado staff has been diligently scouting and covering games at diamonds across the state this spring to bring parents, athletes, and fans the most comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball. Dedication and coverage allows PBR a credible way to identify the top athletes each year who best represent the game of baseball.
