SS Walker Martin (Eaton HS, CO) was one of the first Reds to stand out with his athletic and projectable 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame. Despite some noise to his feet in BP, he showcased bat speed and a strong swing that produced above average raw power and some good rounds. That translated to game play, as he went 4-for-12 with a home run. His strong wrists and forearms create a heavy barrel through the zone and strength at impact. He is committed to Arkansas.
3/28/22
2-for-3 with two doubles and 5 RBI’s. Martin’s stands out on the field. Top athlete in the State of Colorado as a football (QB), basketball and baseball player. Explosive quick hands. Shows power potential, but shows commitment to middle of the field. Developing defensive skill sets as SS. 2023 PBR Colorado Future Games member.

PBR FUTURE GAMES 2023 shortstop Walker Martin of Eaton High School (Slammers) has seen his growth and development trend upwards. He runs a 6.87 60-yard dash. He has noticeable difference in height and strength gain. While his swing usually catches your attention, his defensive skill set at shortstop has shown the most improvement. Great range to left and right, finds a way for feet and hands to play though ball, plus hands fielding. 83 mph across the diamond. As a left-handed hitter he has plus hand speed with ability to go opposite field. Direct path with line drive tendency and has ability to keep hands inside on the fastball. Power potential in the future with current exit velocity of 99 mph. One of the top prospects in the state of Colorado.

Eaton’s talent continues with 2023 shortstop Walker Martin. Martin’s left-handed stroke has +bat speed and growing power. Quick downward plane and ability to use all fields give him chance to hit for average and power. His defensive skill set has taken a leap up. Strong arm and athleticism for the middle infield.
5/25/20
Positional Profile: LHP/SS Body: 6-foot-1, 170-pounds Run: 7.25 Hit: Left-handed hitter with a pure swing. Minimal movements in load. Hands stay quiet. Lower half is controlled to small stride. Attacking hands and aggressive punishing style hitter. Controlled then explodes. Hands are excellent with quickness and strength. Path is direct and downward. Has ability to go oppo with confidence. Has made big jump in attacking inside half. Ability to hit it where it is pitched. Hands stay in on the inside fastball. Exceptional rotational acceleration to balance. Power: He is developing strength and it is showing up with pop to oppo and pull side. More to come. Walker is one of the top hitters in the state at any level. Would consider Walker a top national prospect Arm: 76 mph across the diamond and 80 mph from the outfield. Good mechanics on the arm. Has carry as a shortstop and outfielder. Defense: Developing middle infielder. Has made big progress at short. Great athleticism and shows plus lateral movements. Back hand is good. Demonstrated ability to throw from variety of angles and has versatility!!

I would not discount his ability to develop power in his development. Arm: Infield velocity of 70 with athleticism! Release is a high ¾ with quick back side arc. Long levers with strength and quick twitch. Defense: Has potential at SS/2B/3B and OF! Good footwork. Some stop and go movements. Plus gather to release.
