Colorado 2024 Class Rankings: Summer Update

The summer rankings update consists of 125 players from the 2024 Colorado class. This group contains multiple pitchers with some draft prospect, elite left-handed hitters, and some athletes with exceptional 60 yard dash times and power. When creating our rankings, we consider various factors, such as skills, physical abilities, potential, projection, and on-field performance as well.
As the fall season begins, we are excited to see how these players develop and are constantly looking for new talent within our state. We understand that each player progresses at their own pace, and we will update the rankings throughout the year. It's important to remember that each player has their journey, and the ultimate goal should always be to strive for continuous improvement.

The big 4 arms
Trey Gregory-Alford RHP / Coronado, CO / 2024Gregory-Alford leads the 2024 pack thanks to ramping his fastball up to 97 mph at times this summer. The Virginia commit has been consistently sitting in the mid 90s lately and has a quality off-speed pitch with a spin rate around 2500-2700+ rpms. Gregory-Alford is a physical athlete with a unique fastball that could make some noise in the upcoming MLB draft if he continues to thrive.

Athan Kroll RHP / Valor Christian , CO / 2024Kroll is a high-end athlete that comes with plenty of upside on the mound. Kroll's 6'4'' frame has already produced a fastball up to 94 mph during his 2023 spring campaign, and he should only continue to develop. The Dallas Baptist commit also has elite spin to only add to his already sky-high ceiling.

Mitch Haythorn RHP / Eaton , CO / 2024Haythorn has possibly the best off-speed pitch in the Colorado 2024 class, and he has also gotten the fastball into the 90's. Haythorn's slider sits around a 2600 rpm and he shapes it exceptionally well. The Oklahoma commit has a consistent arm slot that he can tunnel his fastball and slider off of to generate whiffs.

Easton Miller RHP / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2024Easton Miller is ranked 4th overall in the state and rounds out this strong group of right-handed pitchers. The fastball on Miller has been ramped up to 93 mph at times with an off-speed pitch he can spin into the mid 2000's. The Air Force commit has a strong and athletic frame that projects to get even better as he continues to develop.

Top risers
Kolton Hicks C / OF / Fruita Monument, CO / 2024Hicks is one of the most notable recent risers as the College of Southern Idaho commit impresses on all fronts. Hicks posted a 1.82 pop time, a 6.89 60 yard dash, and over a 97 mph top exit-velocity during the 2023 PBR Colorado summer state games. The senior catcher was also constantly hitting himself on base during the state games with advanced base-running instincts. Hicks is a higher-level catcher that has a strong feel for the game with a high ceiling overall.

Andrew Bell SS / 2B / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2024Another big riser this summer was Regis Jesuit's Andrew Bell. The Duke commit showcased an impressive 6.42 60 yard dash with a 105.1 mph top exit-velocity in a showcase early this summer. Bell also had quite the spring season in 2023, hitting .436 with 8 home runs, 12 stolen bases, and a 1.344 OPS in one of the toughest leagues in all of Colorado.

Jackson Niederwerder MIF / SS / Loveland, CO / 2024Niederwerder is surging going into his senior season as the fastball was up to 88 mph during the 2023 Colorado summer state games. The Loveland senior has a feel of three different pitches and a strong frame with an easy delivery. Niederwerder is an intriguing uncommitted right-hander in the state at the moment, with some upside offensively too.

Tate Gargasz RHP / 3B / Palmer Ridge, CO / 2024Gargasz moves up in the rankings and is also now committed to Santa Clara University. The right-hander has gotten up to 90 mph and has some quality spin into the mid 2000's on his off-speed. Quality feel and confidence on the mound.

Frank Flores Jr. RHP / SS / Air Academy, CO / 2024The Air Academy senior finds himself ranked during this update thanks to a strong showing in the 2023 Colorado summer state games. Flores Jr. had a fastball and slider mix going during the games that generated plenty of whiffs and awkward swings. Flores ramped the fastball up to 87 mph and should continue to get better as another quality uncommitted 2024.

Rylen Renton C / Windsor, CO / 2024Renton cracks the rankings this time around and he is a strong and tall right-handed hitting catcher. There have been multiple showcases recently where Renton has posted consistent exit-velocities in to the mid 90s, and he has topped out just over 99 mph. The senior catcher also has a best pop time of 1.88 and is still uncommitted.
