LITTLETON - The Ralston Valley Mustangs met the Dakota Ridge Eagles on Thursday in an important Jeffco League matchup with the winner having the inside edge towards the league championship. The game would feature two of the premier 2019 pitchers in the state with RHP Calvin Hunt (Little Rock-Arkansas) going up against RHP Ryan Stohr (Air Force). With pitchers able bring their fastballs into the lower 90's, Hunt would be the story of this game and get the better of the two.

The Mustangs would jump on the Eagles in the top of the first inning getting a leadoff single from 2019 AJ Jergensen (San Diego) who would be driven in by 2019 C Otto Jones (Washburn University) to take a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the second, Hunt would help is cause on the mound driving a curveball over the left field fence, his first of two homeruns on the day, to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles would get a leadoff double from 2019 OF Zach Parker who would eventually score on a wild pitch to bring the game to 2-1, but the Mustangs would answer in the top of the 4th inning scoring 4 runs highlighted by RBI ground rule double from 2019 SS Trey Adams (Colorado Mesa) bringing the score to 6-1.

This would be all the help Hunt would need on the mound as he pitched six strong innings only giving up 3 hits while striking out 6 and walking one batter. Hunt would add another two-run homerun in the the top of the 7th to put the Mustangs up 8-2 which would be the final score.

Hunt would improve to 4-1 on the season carrying a 3.17 ERA. In 42 innings pitched Hunt has struck out 66 batters while giving up 32 hits.

With the game Ralston Valley moves to 5-1 in league (11-7 overall), while Dakota Ridge would fall to 4-2 in league (10-9 overall)
