By John Cackowski
Director of Scouting

Highlands Ranch, CO - Mountain Vista defeats Regis Jesuit 5 to 4.

The game showcased two of the best pitchers at the 5A level. No. 4 2015 Brent Schwarz and No. 29 2015 Will Dixon squared off in the heavy cross winds that always seem to present at Mountain Vista. The Raiders would strike first in the 2nd inning with a walk by No. 24 2015 3B Matt Schmidt who would eventually come around to score on fielder choices. In the bottom of the 3rd Mountain Vista would bet on the board. No. 47 2017 OF John Krysa would lead the inning off with a HBP. 2015 3B Brandon Formby would reach on a push bunt. No. 7 2015 SS Marc Mumper would walk, and Dixon would drive in a run with a single. It was the bottom of the 4th inning when Regis would come unraveled making 4 errors that would account for 3 unearned runs taking a 4-1 lead. In the top of the 6th Regis would take advantage of a Mountain Vista error and Trevor Doer would hit a 2-out 2b to cut the lead to 5-3. Regis would plate one more run in the 7th inning, but would eventually lose 5-4. Regis would end up committing 6 errors in the game and would fall to 5-9 on the season and 2-2 in league. Mountain Vista would improve to 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in league. Up next for Regis Jesuit is Rock Canyon today in a game that was moved up to avoid the potential bad weather.
