Over the course of the next week, PBR Colorado will break down the Preseason All-State event by position.  We began our look with the catching position and now turn our attention to the Outfield position.

 

 Outfield Analysis:

TAYLER AGUILAR OF / NORTHRIDGE, CO / 2019

A 6-foot-1, 200-pound athletic and projectable left-hand hitting outfielder who ran a 6.89 laser timed 60. Hits from the left side with a square stance with a high leg trigger and long landing, balanced and in an athletic position. Hands load back with rhythm to separation and bat path showed an uphill path and lower half finishes completely. Exit velocity was 94 mph of the live pitch. Active feet on approach receiving the ball quartered open with a step through to get back in line to throw. Arm circle is small throwing from a three quarter arm slot at 92 mph with accuracy.

 

 

 

GABE ATKINS OF / RHP / ROCK CANYON, CO / 2020

5-foot-9, 150-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 6.93 laser timed 60. Athletic open stance at the plate with hands relaxed and show some flow. Hands load back with some rhythm and uses a small toe tap to stride landing on line. Bat gets on plane early and stays through the hitting zone. Good use of the lower half and finishes it completely with some balance. Exit velo was 76 mph off the live pitch. Works behind the ball on defense with active feet on approach. Exchange is clean and moves to a longer arm circle throwing from a three-quarter arm slot at 75 mph. Stretch pitcher with hands held high at balance. Tall and fall motion to the plate and lands in-line on his delivery. Arm is over the top with consistent speed on his pitches. Fastball as 74-76 mph and straight. Curve had 11/5 shape and sat 67-68 mph, he finished with a 71-72 mph change with late sink.

 

 

 

ETHAN FRASER OF / RHP / ROCK CANYON, CO / 2020

A 5-foot-11, 160-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 6.95 laser timed 60. Simple square set up at the plate with a slow load and high leg kick. Weight fires through the zone with a level path and good extension. Showed pull side tendencies.  Exit velocity was 80 mph off the pitch. Defensively he tracks well and attacks in on the ball. Glove worked well with a quick transfer. Arm was over the top and played at 71 mph. Tall and fall motion on the mound. Arm sits in a high 3/4 slot and delivery stays in-line with the plate. Fastball was 73-75 mph with slight arm side run. Curve had 11/5 shape and sat 64-65 and he finished with a 63-64 mph change with late sink away in the zone.

 

 

 

BRICE GARNER OF / SS / ROCKY MOUNTAIN, CO / 2020

 

A 5-foot-9, 165-pound right hand hitting OF/SS who ran an event best 6.30 laser timed 60 which is a new PBR Colorado record. Double toe tap at the plate for timing, hands load back quickly and swing is level through the zone. Line drive tendencies during the live round. Lower half fires through and produced an 82 mph exit velocity off the pitch. Defensively he moves well on ball in the gap, feet are quick and body stays square on the throws. Arm is over the top and played at 73 mph with accuracy.

 

 

MATTHEW GELWICK OF / RHP / CHATFIELD, CO / 2020

A 5-foot-10, 155-pound right hand hitting OG/RHP who ran a 6.75 laser timed 60. Hits from the right side with an athletic slightly open stance. Toe tap to landing on line at stride. Hands load back with a slight arm bar. Swing initiates early and bat path is flat with a high finish. Exit velocity was 77 mph off the pitch. Feet are active on approach with solid glove presentation and eyes following to the catch. Clean exchange to a longer arm circle throwing from a three-quarter arm slot at 77 mph. Stand tall on the mound with a big leg kick to balance. Some drop and drive tendencies. Arm is over the top and slides to high 3/4 at times. Fastball was 75-77 mph with good down location. Curve flashed tight spin and 11/5 shape and sat 67-68 and his change had near FB arm speed and was 68-69 mph.

 

 

 

BADEN JORDANOF / 1B / LARAMIE , WY / 2019

 

5-foot-9, 145-pound right hand hitting OF/1B who ran a 7.38 laser timed 60. Upright and slightly open stance that strides in landing closed. Hands make a direct load back before firing forward with a flat path and a high finish. Swing translates to line drive tendencies finishing the lower half completely. Exit velo was 76 mph off the pitch. Active feet on approach receiving the ball quartered open with a step through to get back in line to throw. Arm circle is small throwing from a three quarter arm slot at 66 mph.

 

 

GARRETT LIPPOLD OF / RHP / GRANDVIEW, CO / 2020

 

A 5-foot-11, 155-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 6.68 laser timed 60. Hits from the right side with an athletic square stance. Small leg lift with a stride forward landing on line, hands load back with rhythm, and bat path was flat and stayed through extension. Hips fire with some aggression and swing appeared to be a solid line drive swing with some pull side tendencies. Exit velocity was 80 mph off the pitch. Feet were active and aggressive on approach playing behind the ball with nice glove presentation to catch. Clean exchange to a longer arm action, but showed some arm speed getting it through throwing from the outfield at 76 mph.

 

 

 

DALTON LOGAN OF / RHP / EATON, CO / 2020

 

A 6-foot-3, 190-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 6.98 laser timed 60. Has some juice hitting from the right side with a square athletic stance and a pronounced leg kick. Lands on line and hands back before firing the lower half with some explosion. Has some hand strength and whip getting the barrel through the zone with uphill tilt and stayed on the ball through extension. Exit velocity was 86 mph off the pitch. Defensively feet are active on approach with a solid glove presentation to catch. Exchange is clean moving to a long arm action with shoulders uphill on hand break throwing from a three-quarter arm slot. Outfield velocity was 78 mph. Tall on the mound with some tilt on his backside at balance. Lands on a stiff front side and shows good extension on the pitch. Arm is over the top and fastball sat 77-80 mph with slight arm side run. Curve had tight spin with 11/5 shape and was 65-67 mph. Curve had fastball arm speed at 73-74 mph with location away.

 

 

GRANT MANNINO OF / OF / DENVER SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY STAPLETON, CO / 2020

 

A 6-foot-0, 175-pound right hand hitting OF who ran a 6.98 laser timed 60. Hits from the right side with a square stance with a simple pick up and put down landing balanced and in an athletic position. Hands load back with rhythm to separation and bat path showed an uphill path and lower half finishes completely. Exit velocity was 91 mph off the pitch. Active feet on approach receiving the ball quartered open with a step through to get back in line to throw. Arm circle is small throwing from a three quarter arm slot at 77 mph.

 

 

HENRY MORLEY OF / 3B / CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL, CO / 2020

A 6-foot-2, 185-pound right hand hitting OF/3B who ran a 6.95 laser timed 60. Upright and slightly open stance that strides in landing closed. Hands make a direct load back before firing forward with a flat path and a high finish. Swing translates to line drive tendencies finishing the lower half completely. Exit velo was 84 mph off the pitch. Feet are active on approach and works behind the ball. Exchange is clean and body is in a slight crouch when exchanging. Short arm action to a high three-quarter arm slot with a positional velocity of 80 mph.

 

 

 

 

ETHAN O'DONNELL OF / OF / REGIS JESUIT, CO / 2020

 

6-foot-1, 185-pound left hand hitting OF/2B who ran a 7.01 laser timed 60. Slow pick up and put down striding on line, hands move back and elbow slots, bat gets on plane early, and finishes with uphill tilt. Exit velocity was 85 mph off the pitch, showing strength and bat speed with power potential. Lower half finishes completely with aggression and maintains balance in the swing. Feet were active and aggressive on approach playing behind the ball with nice glove presentation to catch. Clean exchange to a longer arm action, but showed some arm speed getting it through throwing from the outfield at 85 mph.

 

 

JUSTIN PETTERLE OF / SS / ROCK CANYON, CO / 2020

 

 

A 5-foot-10, 168-pound right hand hitting OF/SS who ran a 6.94 laser timed 60. Athletic square stance with the stride landing on line. Hands load back to an arm bar. Hands are quick getting started and bat path is short to the ball with some uphill tilt to the swing and a high finish. Has a strong lower half and finishes the hips completely on a swing that has some gap to gap power potential. Exit velo was 70 mph off the pitch. Exchange is clean and body is in a slight crouch when exchanging. Short arm action to a high three-quarter arm slot with a positional velocity of 79 mph with carry and accuracy.

 

COEN ROSSOW OF / RHP / WINDSOR, CO / 2020

 

A 6-foot-0 160-pound right hand hitting OF/RHP who ran a 7.17 laser timed 60. Hits from the right side with an athletic slightly open stance. Toe tap to landing on line at stride. Hands load back with a slight arm bar. Swing initiates early and bat path is flat with a high finish. Exit velocity was 74 mph off the pitch. Feet are active on approach with solid glove presentation and eyes following to the catch. Clean exchange to a longer arm circle throwing from a three-quarter arm slot and played at 78 mph.

 

 

PARKER SANDOVAL OF / 2B / CHEROKEE TRAIL , CO / 2020

A 6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic right hand hitter who ran a 6.70 laser timed 60. Hits from an athletic square stance striding on line after a small pickup to stride. Hands have minimal load, but lands in a strong hitting position at stride. Barrel has a slightly uphill path and stays on ball through contact to a high finish. Lower half finishes completely and showed some balance throughout. Exit velocity was 91 mph off the pitch. Feet are active on approach and works behind the ball. Exchange is clean and body is in a slight crouch when exchanging. Short arm action to a high three-quarter arm slot with a positional velocity of 77 mph.

 

 

 

KIT WIGINGTON OF / 1B / PINE CREEK, CO / 2020

 

A 6-foot-0, 180-pound left hand hitting OF/1B who ran a 7.20 laser timed 60. Athletic open stance at the plate with hands relaxed and show some flow. Hands load back with some rhythm and big lift and place stride landing on line. Bat gets on plane early and stays through the hitting zone. Good use of the lower half and finishes it completely with some balance. Exit velo was 88 mph off the pitch. Works behind the ball on defense with active feet on approach. Exchange is clean and moves to a longer arm circle throwing from a three-quarter arm slot at 73 mph. 

 

 

 

KALEB WOLTZ RHP / 1B / CHEROKEE TRAIL, CO / 2020

 

A 6-foot-2, 200-pound right hand hitting OF.RHP who ran a 7.20 laser timed 60. Hits from the right side with an athletic open stance. Big leg lift with a stride forward landing on line, hands load back with rhythm, and bat path was flat and stayed through extension. Hips fire with some aggression and swing appeared to be a solid line drive swing with some pull side tendencies. Exit velocity was 90 mph off the pitch. Feet were active and aggressive on approach playing behind the ball with nice glove presentation to catch. Clean exchange to a longer arm action, but showed some arm speed getting it through throwing from the outfield at 84 mph. On the mound Woltz is a power pitcher. Drop and drive delivery with maximum effort.  Good three pitch mix from a high 3/4 arm slot.  Ability to control both sides of the plate. Fastball was 85-88 mph with run, curve flashed tight spin and 11/5 shape and sat 70-73 mph. Change had fastball arm speed and was 76-78 mph with late sink.
