Q&A with 2022 Xavier Commit, Isaac Wachsmann

Chance Ubel
Intern, PBR Colorado

Back in October 2020 Isaac Wachsmann announced his commitment to Xavier University.

Now just months away from heading to Cincinnati to begin his college career, Isaac took the time to sit with our PBR Colorado staff. The Regis Jesuit product discussed how the Future Games helped put him on the map and what it's been like having the chance to compete against some of the best young talent in the country.

Q&A with Isaac Wachsmann

Q: You attended the Future Games in Georgia. When you left the event and headed back to Colorado, what was your overall impression of the event?

Wachsmann: The Future Games was one of my favorite events I've played in throughout high school. The exposure I was able to get at an event like that and the competition I faced was top tier so it was a great experience to help make me a better player.

Q: What was the recruiting trail like for you, before you attended the Future Games? Were colleges interested early on and how did you get on the college coaches radars?

WachsmannBefore the Future Games I really didn’t have any looks from colleges. After the Future Games I kind of blew up and was able to get a lot of interest from a lot of different schools around the country.

Q: You're committed to Xavier, how did you connect with them and what was it like talking to their staff? Did you visit, and if so how was that?

WachsmannI first connected with Xavier and coach O'Connor after the Future Games and it couldn’t have been a better fit for me and my family. It was very nice to be able to relate with a coach and a program so well and I couldn’t be happier with the situation that I'm in.

Q: What made you choose Xavier over other schools that gave you offers?

Wachsmann: I chose Xavier because it felt like a perfect fit. I love the entire coaching staff and while I was on my visit I was able to meet some amazing people and I think it will be the perfect for me. I also love how Billy searches for the best competition and wants his team to compete at the highest level.

Q: Now that you have finished your recruitment process, do you have any advise for young '23s, ‘24s, 25’s or even ‘26s who have just started this process?

WachsmannThe advice I would give to younger kids it to just be patient and your time will come. Sometimes you get too caught up in trying to be recruited and lose sight of just having fun.

Q: Lastly, out of all the PBR events you have attended in your career, what has PBR meant to you during your time playing baseball in Colorado?

Wachsmann: Future Games was definitely the most impactful PBR event that I ever attended.
