Q&A with Underclass Invitational Participant Braden Dedrick

Prep Baseball Report Colorado is ready to hit the ground running in 2016 with two major events.  The Underclass Invitational event at Slammers South will take take place on January 31st. Over the coming weeks, PBR Colorado will introduce you to 2018 and 2019 players who have committed to this event.  Continuing our look is 2019 C Braden Dedrick from Pine Creek High School.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:

Dedrick:  Hardworking, dedicated. Tough.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?

Dedrick:  If I'm dreaming, it's University of S. Carolina, since I was 11 years old when I first saw them at the CWS in 2012.  They lost to Arizona that year but won both years before and I've wanted to go there ever since.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?

Dedrick:  Common sense. I try to make smart decisions. I will do my own thing rather then follow the crowd.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?

Dedrick:  Talent only gets you so far, hard work gets you the rest

PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?

Dedrick:  Conditioning, position skills twice a week. Weights 3 or more times a week. Catching instruction every other week.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?

Dedrick:  Before each game, I mentally prepare by just being quiet and focus on all the things I need to do well in the game.

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season:

1.8 pop time

Improve bat speed, improve batting average

Be a better leader

Two Years:

Improve on the above

Four Years:

Have a commitment to play baseball at the college level.
